The Mountain Goats – No Children Lyrics

No. The couple isn't divorced, getting divorced, or contemplating divorce. The line "I hope that if I found the strength to walk out, You'd stay the hell out of my way," points to them still being together, yet desperately codependent, almost trapped. |

The Mountain Goats – No I Can't Lyrics

This song, to me, speaks from the perspective of a black sheep in the family being reached out to by someone else in the family. Like a wayward brother, who's sister is still trying to take care of him. "Thank you for coming by, it's nice to see you once in a while." He lives away from his family, and rarely sees them. At least that's what it says to me. |

The Mountain Goats – Autoclave Lyrics

I get this, but with a bit of a twist. There are SOME bacteria that can survive, and indeed, thrive in an autoclave atmosphere, but most will die.
There are also SOME people who would be able to love that person, though most will not. |

The Mountain Goats – Going to Utrecht Lyrics

There is also an Utrecht in Portland, Oregon. And he frequents Portland. I live across the river from Portland in Vancouver, Washington, and you can look across the water and watch Portland if you feel like it.
My ex is currently going to school across the water. This song make me think of her. |
