I definitely think the reference of contra to the actual meaning "against" especially referring to the Nicaraguan Resistance fighters of the 80's.Not literally, just being a boy and being harsh....Which tends to be necessary for a girl worthwhile to hear... I will say as a girl who loves someone very much, but wont commit to them, I definitely feel like the contra.... The contra hes singing about..Not specifically(obviously I dont know them). But its hard, there are so many reasons to choose to not be with someone.. Being in love with someone, most of the time is not even close to enough to make it work in the longrun. This song is beautiful. |

I think this song is about me, and how people feel when I leave. Like, Leave, leave..... :P You know that made some of you crack a smiola. This song makes me a picture a very grey dull depressing day at the beach with absolutly no swell Empty ofcourse no surf, no fish, no color. Thats what I tend to picture when I think about "dude" aaand how it didnt work out, and how life is just a little bit less bright. Sounds kinda depressing but, I dont mean it to sound that way at all, things just turn grey for awhile. I think.But at the same time paying credit where credit is due. Like because you arent here not that the beach isnt still here, or that the waves arent as big, there arent any more period. Or maybe I just love the ocean, and anytime someone uses it to personify or metaphorically describe, I become super stoked. |

thank you soo much for your post from 2 years ago, because apparently I am super late finding out about this awesome site. I had originally thought it was a kind of a passive yet jolly, dark retort to the "smug and sure," in life. People who always have a not so construnctive, more on the super not necessary to complaint. Generally, Americas government is what I visualized hearing this song, but more specifically, these posing, complainers. I am all about the intention of trying to keep freedom of speech as free as possible, however what I visualize is people protesting against whatever, or whomever, without any facts or goal in mind. I feel like Andrew is just sitting while theres a group of sheep complaining about the most recent update in a presidential campaign, and he clears his throat, looks up at the group smiles and feseciously says something unbiased letting them know how just unimf***ingportant there conversation is. Due soley on the fact that they have no goal, no facts, and no real opinions themselves. So I think ... that, I think way too much. :) No one will probably even see this, however, I saw Andrew about 6 years? or so ago. Hollywood , he opened for someone, aaand I fell in love. He is got such a "Everythings pretty shitty, but for some reason I am not negatively affected by aaanything" attitude. |
