since no one's come close to touching upon this, the xsong is based, like many slipknot songs, on psychopaths and how they are able to end a life without remorse, regret, or any other defining emotion. For evidence I quote in particular: "Cycle of life and death supposedly goes 'round and 'round yet it stops with me" Psychopaths often see themselves as flawed, abominations, and even see themselves on the outside looking in (so to speak) but able to step inside and interact with others. For this I quote: "Raised by kindred of Get I was born Abomination world in disarray" "Stepping sideways betweens worlds I shift" "Beautiful Anguish cast out by my race" Psychopaths often 'prey' on fear and even tend to ritualize it once again I quote: "Glorious hunter of my faith I have sinned" "Filling the shadows with forms of my own" "Killers are quiet when they seek the vitae" "Reflection beckons a portal shard Spiritual quest I must stay in guard" Also they tend to see themselves as in a manner of speaking 'immortal' or in this case 'ageless' and thus both entitled and able to 'rule the world', but must remain hidden. and finally we quote: "Now one that's Ageless I save my own face I write my own laws with Death I break bread" as for the killers are quiet part it's often felt by the majority of the population that psychopaths are silent stalkers or perhaps even just plain crazy. -watch Dexter(tv show), or American Psycho(movie) as these tend to be approximately accurate portrayals (as far as Hollywood goes) |
