Neil Young – Ohio Lyrics | 3 years ago |
Well I don't think Neil Young actually got in trouble for this, but the song did get banned from many radios... |
dEUS – One Advice, Space Lyrics | 5 years ago |
So basically I'd say it's the unclear thoughts and feeling of someone who is somewhat depressed, going out and drinking too much and associating with the wrong persons and doing stupid things... in hope of feeling better. |
dEUS – One Advice, Space Lyrics | 5 years ago |
So dEUS is currently touring and playing "The Ideal Crash" from beginning to end ;) I saw them in Luxemburg a couple days ago and Tom Barman said a few words before they played this song. (from my memory, and translated from french) "This song is about... when love is not going too well for you, and so you go out to find... other places... and other persons... but you don't always find them" |
Archive – Fuck You Lyrics | 8 years ago |
@[andrello:6613] that's what it made me think of too, but for no particular reason... it could be about many other people... it's just the first thought that came in my head for some reason. I think I had just read something on the net about some crappy stuff Bush had done. |
The Kills – The Last Goodbye Lyrics | 9 years ago |
I imagine that the woman who sings it is in a relationship with a man who's married or otherwise involved with another woman... she loves him passionately and completely, he may love her too but he's also too involved in that other relationship to belong entirely to her... ("a half-hearted love that will never be whole") he won't leave the other woman so she cannot imagine a future with him ("this dime-a-day love that don't go anywhere") They have different expectations for their relationship ("an odds and ends love that don't ever match up") Maybe he confessed to her that he will never leave his other woman ("I heard all you said..." ) and now she know that even though she "loves him to death" she will never be happy with him, and has to leave him so she will have another chance to be happy... She has no regrets for giving it a try, but she knows she has to move on now... " how can I rely on my heart if I break it with my own two hands" I see 2 possible meanings there : 1) it hurts her so much to leave him that she feels she is breaking her own heart, she wonders how she will ever recover from this 2) if she stayed in this unhappy relationship she would feel that she was breaking her own heart and she couldn't ever trust herself to fall in love again, which is why she has to leave Anyway, such a perfect, beautiful song |
Pearl Jam – Infallible Lyrics | 9 years ago |
Listening to this song what came to my mind was the way we're destroying the planet and even though it's getting more and more obvious, we just keep on living our lives the same way thinking we'll be fine anyway... knowing Eddie Vedder's quite concerned with ecology too, I guess that's plausible... |
Pearl Jam – Spin the Black Circle Lyrics | 9 years ago |
To me it is clearly about vinyl, but the double meaning about drugs it totally intended... to show how addicted he is to music and how euphoric it makes him feel. I guess he was also being a bit facetious here, knowing the words would be interpreted by so many people, some of which didn't see the humor in some Pearl Jam songs... so it's like "if you wand this to be a dark song about me being on drugs, sure, go on!" |
Cornershop – Brimful Of Asha Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Thank you for the full interpretation neo979, that's great! As a French girl I'd like to add my feelings about something that was "strange" to him ;) Jacques Dutronc is a famous french singer. And I remember reading once in an interview of the Cornershop singer that he was "imitating Dutronc" at the end of the song. So I'm pretty sure the line just before he mentions Dutronc is "Mon public", meaning "my audience", pronounced with a pretty bad french accent ^^ He's singing a line in french = imitating french singer Dutronc (I don't know that much about Dutronc's work, so maybe the way he sings this whole part is also a reference to his songs, I don't know) |
Pearl Jam – Hail, Hail Lyrics | 11 years ago |
sorry, in my first paragraph it's "her" not "here" I don't know why I mistyped this twice!! |
Pearl Jam – Hail, Hail Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Reading the lyrcis now, it kinda makes sense to me that it would be about divorce. The guy can't quite believe that this relationship, in which he invested so much, is now over. He has conflicting thoughts : on one hand he realizes that it's not working anymore and is angry with here, on the other hand he still loves here and keeps thinking that maybe they could still change and make it work ( "I could be new, you underestimate me" ) "bandaged hand in hand" makes me think working too hard to save a relationship that is already destroyed. Bandaged = they already hurt each other too much, and yet they still feel tied to each other (bandaged hand in hand = they can't separate) "are you woman enough to be my man" is pretty mysterious. "Instinctively" I always understood it as a reference to his deep respect for women (as shown by his fight for abortion rights, agaisnt rape etc;). So he sees a woman as a "complete" human being, who is also able to be the guy's "man" (= the boss? a friend?) if that's what he needs. If you're "woman enough" you can be all of this. So basically "are you a strong, smart woman who can give me everything I need in a relationship?" but then, that doesn't make any particular sense with the way I understand the rest of the song ^^ |
Red Hot Chili Peppers – I Could Have Lied Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Funny, I always thought it must be about cheating, but in a more personal way I related to it with another meaning (being close friends with someone and confessing that you love him / her). Now I read that this may be exactly what the song is about... that's pretty cool :) Anyway this song meant a lot to me when I was 18 and I told my best friend I was in love with him... I knew he didn't love me back but felt I should tell him out of honesty, because we were so close to each other. Well, it kinda killed our relationship and that was a big disappointment... and I kept hearing it in my head : "I could have lied, I'm such a fool..." :( |
dEUS – Right As Rain Lyrics | 13 years ago |
yes, I remember reading in an interview with Tom that it was about his father's death. Which confirms the interpretation given here : http://www.hotellounge.com/songs/_index.htm read it yourself for more details as I won't steal from Jyves' great website ;) |
dEUS – Via Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I think this is totally improvised... no meaning at all! but I could be wrong ;) |
dEUS – Suds And Soda Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I doubt this song has a meaning! but holy sh*t it's good!!!! |
dEUS – One Advice, Space Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I really can't find any clear meaning to it, it feels more like the confused stuff you remember from a dream... |
dEUS – Little Arithemtics Lyrics | 13 years ago |
To me Little arithmetics = the little arrangements you have to make so the relationship will work... but sometimes it can also be depressing and kill that relationship. So basically the song would be about the complicated stuff that comes between 2 persons who love each other ;) (temptation, doubt, frustration...) |
dEUS – Instant Street Lyrics | 13 years ago |
To me it's just a break-up song... he's telling his girl that he can't stay any longer with her, he feels this relationship is coming to an end and he finds himself constantly attracted to other girls. So he feels bad and dishonest staying with her. But he doesn't feel too great about leaving either. But maybe I'm just naive :P |
