I think, and I may be well off the mark, that it is semi autobiographical and it's basically about a young kid who is miserable at home because his father would beat him (Noel's father did beat him), so he's going to run away, hence why he's at the station. The mother only has housework and the like on her mind and isn't protecting her son. The rest of the song is basically him hoping things will get better once he grows up but he isn't very optimistic. |
