Very obviously a break-up song But it can be a grief song too (as in someone just died type thing) There are five stages of grief (or more, depending on your sources): denial, depression, anger, bargaining, acceptance. They can go in any order. In this song is anger, depression, and acceptance. Besides breaking up, the song makes me think of someone who's loved one just died, and they're angry at this person for leaving them and their family alone(particularly a younger person, tweenish age or a teen, who has more issues than most understanding why). The person who died didn't really leave an impression on this person's life ("no hope, no love, no glory, no happy ending"), but there have been issues that the younger person finds easier to blame on their late loved one. Towards the end of the song the person fully accepts loved one's death, stops being angry, and moves on. |
