Steely Dan – Peg Lyrics | 1 month ago |
@[NJJ:50486] I'll second the "pumag13 is an idiot" comment. Chuck Rainey played the bass on that track and talks all about the slap technique controversy. Classic Albums, Aja episode |
Live – Lightning Crashes Lyrics | 2 months ago |
@[despondent:50236] you seem upset. The fact that you let a random stranger have that much control over your emotions is weak as hell. |
Queensrÿche – One More Time Lyrics | 4 months ago |
Great song from an excellent concept album from QR. Protagonist is lamenting the fact that personal relationships were neglected and a good part of life sacrificed in the pursuit of "success". With this song near the end of the record, he wants One More Time around to do things differently. |

King's X – Smudge Lyrics | 8 months ago |
Great song. King's X is the shit. Lots of symbolism and references to good vs evil. The bible makes numerous mentions to markings on the hand or head which I think is the clue that seals the meaning to this one for me. The narrator tells us in the first verse that Satan has always occupied his thoughts: Ever since I was a little baby Had the devil on my mind Two dimensional Satan on the wall And the thread would start to wind In Revelation 13, there is the story of the Beast from the Sea and the Beast from the Earth. This is the essence of the song, in my opinion. The Mark of the Beast And the second beast required all people small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark—the name of the beast or the number of its name. Here is a call for wisdom: Let the one who has understanding reckon the number of the beast, for it is a human number, and that number is 666. |
Curt Smith – Reach Out Lyrics | 10 months ago |
Another great song from the Mayfield album |
Curt Smith – Sorry Town Lyrics | 10 months ago |
Great song. Great record, originally released as Mayfield, not Curt Smith. Lyrics are self-explanatory. |
Queensrÿche – Screaming In Digital Lyrics | 11 months ago |
@[musicdood:47063] 100% - Parenting is very difficult. The simplest things can impact children much more than adults think. To Adam's comment though, this song is about an AI or robot (the computer world made flesh) from a concept album that is very much about AI and robotics |

Queensrÿche – Suite Sister Mary Lyrics | 1 year ago |
@[Squeakyrat11:46899] agreed. Sounds like a suicide. He is trying to prevent her from using so they can take clear-headed action and escape. She ODs or slits her wrists instead: Don't turn your back on my disgrace The blood of Christ can't heal my wounds...so deep The sins of man are all I taste Can't spit the memory from my mind I can't cry anymore Her story comes to an end. |

@[Pink_Floyd_fan:46639] oh Hell yes. Great song. Too bad the place got destroyed. Frank Sinatra, the Marx Brothers and others used to hang there. |
ZZ Top – Avalon Hideaway Lyrics | 1 year ago |
Just like Balinese or La Grange, this is obviously another track about a place the guys knew about for illegal fun (gambling & ...). FM 92 runs (loosely) from Beaumont to Sam Rayburn lake but I'm not from that part of Texas so the exact spot is for someone else to answer. |
ZZ Top – Arrested For Driving While Blind Lyrics | 1 year ago |
Always loved the groove on this track. No need to interpret the lyrics. It's plain as day. |
ZZ Top – Pan Am Highway Blues Lyrics | 1 year ago |
@[dave688626:46554] just a theory but probably because the lyrics are clear and don't need interpretation. Agreed on the track. Very under appreciated. Lots of great guitar riffs, as usual for Rev Willy G. |

Men at Work – Down Under Lyrics | 11 years ago |
In your insult to Americans you probably intended "misunderstood". When you make really broad statements as the include all 300 million Americans as having one mindset, then you have lost the argument before you finished stating it. |
Men at Work – Down Under Lyrics | 11 years ago |
LOL - I was going to post a correction but then I realized you were simply on a rant about the Brits. |
Robert Plant – Slow Dancer Lyrics | 11 years ago |
No clues - this one is pretty obscure!! |
Rush – The Fountain Of Lamneth Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Agreed. Looks like a literal reference to reincarnation. It could also reference a new personal quest/dream to give his life direction again? |
Rush – The Fountain Of Lamneth Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I thought that guy was writing satirically at first but he's not. Lotta BS in my opinion. |
Rush – The Fountain Of Lamneth Lyrics | 12 years ago |
If that is the "main" reference to LSD then I feel compelled to dismiss your original statement. "Liberally sprinkled"? Not seeing it here. If you want drug references, A Passage To Bangkok provides plenty. The band members freely admitted in at least one interview to experimenting with drugs but Alex said it "was all so smokey he couldn't remember the result of the experiment". Paraphrasing from memory on that quote. |
Rush – The Fountain Of Lamneth Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I had not listened to Caress of Steel in a few years and happily just went through it a few times over the weekend. One of their "weakest" recordings by the band memebers' own admission, I think it rocks ass. Sounds quite dated in 2012 of course but for anyone looking for rock music with depth you can't go wrong. |
Rush – The Fountain Of Lamneth Lyrics | 12 years ago |
"Old Sol" is a reference to the sun. Comes from the Latin origin of the word if I remember right. The LSD references are pretty silly as well. As earlier stated, if you're high, everything you encounter is obviously about drugs because you think everyone else is high. Just like a drunk thinks everyone they encounter while stumbling around is at the same party they were at 2 hours ago. |
Robert Plant – Far Post Lyrics | 13 years ago |
No - I haven't tired of it yet. It is over 20 years old and still one of my favorites to listen to. This was recorded during the sessions with Phil Collins on drums and didn't make the Pictures at Eleven album originally but is on the re-released CD version now. If it had not been included on the White Knights soundtrack I likely never would have heard this track. Love it. Phil on drums and Bob on vocals. |
