Sara Bareilles – Love on the Rocks Lyrics 13 years ago
I think the reference to alcohol is not literal...Love on the Rocks may mean that a true relationship has its stumbles and difficulties, but overall its intoxicating ;)
Anyway, I like the song its probably my favourite of Sara's. Always uplifts my mood and puts a smile on my face

Incubus – Dig Lyrics 13 years ago
I don't think words can describe the pure simplicity of this song that tackles such a deeper, profound meaning. Friendship? Yes. But more importantly, the rawness of one's personal friendships, relationships and connections with people that truly touch our hearts in this harsh world.
The first time I heard this song, I liked it. Usually it takes a couple of listens to hear the inner beauty, but this was expertly crafted to hit the heart quickly and heavily. Bravo Incubus, you have restored my faith in good, simple, heartfelt music.

Amazing song, Coldplay are so raw and simple. They use great lyrics and make me feel a little nostalgic sometimes, but honestly a great band.

Angus and Julia Stone – The Devil's Tears Lyrics 13 years ago
Guilty pleasures, being in touch with sin and perhaps deceit. The fact that its about the Devil's "Tears" means that this person has had the said guilty pleasures of life on a number of occasions that perhaps they consider themselves connected to this life emotionally, hence the word "tears" - tears can be sad, angry, even happy.

Underneath it all, however, they feel lost from who they really are and who they want to be with. They never lose hope in that one special person. Thats the one truth that the "devil" can never remove or mask with lust or pleasure.

Angus and Julia Stone – Draw Your Swords Lyrics 13 years ago
Sensational...really makes me chilled to the core, in a good way of course. I agree with the comments above, its a very haunting song.
The lyrics at the end always excite, such a well constructed song for easy listening with an edge to it.

Eskimo Joe – Life is Better With You Lyrics 13 years ago
I think the title really speaks for itself: Life Is Better With You?

But it also touches on the unpreditability of people and who your going to end up loving, hating, even talking to on a day to day basis. Its quite a brilliant song and goes well with the title of the album "A Song is a City"....think about it ;)
People are like cities; unpredictable, bustling and constantly changing and growing, coming and going. This song, its title, is saying that there is always people you cannot live without in your life, no matter who else is in it for however long, the ones that last are the ones that are true.

System of a Down – Cigaro Lyrics 14 years ago
I was listening to this song recently while watching 'The Sopranos'.

Cool, in denial
We're the cruel regulators smoking
CIGARO CIGARO CIGARO

I can't help but wonder whether this song is referencing the Mafia organisation and its reputation of cruelty, brotherhood, ego-based, cigar-smoking culture. It makes perfect sense to me anyway.

Cruelty: the line, "cruel regulators"- trying to keep society in line using means of violence.
Brotherhood: "whose dick is bigger", always in competition which goes hand-in-hand with ego-based attitudes.
And I must mention if I had a dollar for every cigar that has been lit up in 'The Sopranos', well, that question answers itself.

The line, "I've got you screaming back for more!" - in reference to sex, has me thinkning of the womanising and stripper club, also featured in 'The Sopranos'.

So to sum, its pretty clear to me that its about the Mafia in some form or another. I only used the example of 'The Sopranos' because its the thing that certainly popped the thought into my head.
I do like System of a Down, I appreciate their opinions and enjoy their music. But, I am not them and they are not anyone else, so of course I may not agree 100% with their views, but its nice to hear something as eye-opening and blatant as their music. Definately asks a few questions for me about the world today.
