Bombay Bicycle Club – Shuffle Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Official lyrics Weight is coming off soaring high Pleading you to stay come alive Say you mean it, seal it up say you wanna try Say you haven't had enough say you wanna Once you get the feeling it wants you back for more Says it's gonna heal it but you won't make the call One step back you're leaving it now it's moving on Why won't you believe in it 'till it's gone? Fading out the line softly say get it out my mind any way Say you mean it, seal it up say you wanna try Say you haven't had enough say you wanna Once you get the feeling it wants you back for more Says it's gonna heal it but you won't make the call One step back you're leaving it now it's moving on Why won't you believe in it 'till it's gone? Once you get the feeling it wants you back for more Now it gets ethereal feet ain't on the floor One step back you're leaving it jumping at the wall Why won't you believe in it 'till it's gone? You gave to me all I know I will stay here I will not go |

Vampire Weekend – I Think Ur a Contra Lyrics | 13 years ago |
This is what Ezra said about the song in his Track-By-Track guide to "Contra", to NME: "It’s the first song that I’ve sang entirely in falsetto and the vocal feels more exposed because of that. It’s a conversation between two people and the way they’re using the word ‘contra’ is to say, “You’re the opposite of me.” Say you break up with your girlfriend and suddenly you feel like they’re a totally different person to you, but obviously that’s not the whole story because at one point you felt very tender towards them. We have so many signals in our life telling us to make decisions between two things, but usually it’s not as simple as that. Some people would say a choice between two things is no choice at all. We thought of calling the album 'Contra' before this song was even written — to me it makes perfect sense as the title of this album because in some way every song has something to say about being forced into a dichotomy, that every choice is always either A or B. You can apply it to politics, culture, religion or personal relationships. We’re fighting against the dumbing down of choice." |
Sufjan Stevens – Impossible Soul Lyrics | 13 years ago |
it does sound like like Annie Clark, but it's actually Shara Worden (My Brightest Diamond). she's on the same record label as Sufjan |
Born Ruffians – At Home Now Lyrics | 13 years ago |
without looking deeply into it, it's about being home-sick. luke commented on how the band 'toured too much' prior to the release of "Say It", so it would make sense that the song was about this. maybe this was made to be the last track on the album purposely, as they were all anticipating returning home after the album was completed. |
Kings of Leon – Talihina Sky Lyrics | 13 years ago |
just a bit of trivia for you... caleb slurred his words on a lot of kings of leon's earlier songs because he was very self-conscious about his own lyrics. as for you meeting the strokes and kings of leon at the same time. they're my only two favourite bands. i envy you. |
The Tallest Man on Earth – Burden of Tomorrow Lyrics | 13 years ago |
i think mdm9260 and RocketCat have it pretty much sussed. the lyrics are describing some form of deity, probably god, who represents all life and existence, which would make most verses in these lyrics make complete sense. however, i think the narrator insinuates his own philosophical outlooks to the topic of a "god". i mean, this stanza here, "oh but rumour has it that i wasn't born, i just walked in one frosty morn, into the vision of some vacant mind" the first part would give you the idea of the protagonist being god, but wouldn't the second part suggest that the narrator believes god was introduced to life and being given control, in a way, rather than create it himself? i don't know, that's just what i get from it. anyway, well done to mdm9260 for their interpretation and well done to RocketCat for elaborating on it, i think they both have the meaning more or less worked out! which is never easy when it comes to TTMOE lyrics as they're always abstruse, but beautifully written. i love this album so much, as well as his debut. it's difficult to say which one's the best but i don't think it matters, both are amazing, on every level. |
The Tallest Man on Earth – Love Is All Lyrics | 13 years ago |
i agree with killedbyjude about it being about a break-up. i notice that the narrator feels guilty about wanting out of a relationship. "evil's in my pocket and your strength is in my hand" suggests he can so easily and quickly hurt this person by admitting he's not happy in the relationship any more. his partner will probably be shocked by that kind of announcement, hence the guilt aspect. a beautiful song and the album is one of the best i've heard in this genre, maybe even of all time. |
The Tallest Man on Earth – Thousand Ways Lyrics | 13 years ago |
the moon? that's all i can come up with... |
The Tallest Man on Earth – King of Spain Lyrics | 13 years ago |
possibly! quite a loose reference though, if it was. |
Phoenix – Countdown Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Does anyone know why this song is sometimes seen titled as, 'Countdown (Sick for the Big Sun)'? |
Bombay Bicycle Club – Swansea Lyrics | 13 years ago |
The lyrics are, 'how i D-Twain' opposed to, 'detrain'. Referring to an inside joke of theirs where Suren imitates some kind of fictional rap star. if you search D-Twain on Facebook a group comes up featuring Suren. |
Bombay Bicycle Club – How Can You Swallow So Much Sleep? Lyrics | 13 years ago |
It's definitely 'bag me up'. You can clearly hear it in the song. |
