Blue October – Two A.M. Lovesick Lyrics 14 years ago
I think this is a great interpretation. I also think its about literally painting and how the person is hopeful that they've picked up a constructive hobby. But I also feel this way because Justin talks about his alcohol addiction in other songs and his battle to overcome it.

Blue October – X Amount Of Words Lyrics 14 years ago
It is CLEARLY about his mental issues. Not only is it apparent in the lyrics but it's come straight from him in numerous interviews. You're pretty much calling the artist a liar and that thy don't know what their own song is about.

People are interested in him because he can take something that's conceivably "ugly" and has caused so much pain and trouble (his disorder) into something beautiful, with his words and just the music itself.

Blue October – Drilled a Wire Through My Cheek Lyrics 14 years ago
Justin is NOT schizophrenic, he is bipolar. HUGE difference. And I'm not positive but I'm fairly sure it's not about sex at all, it's about a person who is epileptic. "I try to stay on top of you to hold your body down, Your shaking seems to hinder every grasp that I had found;" anyone who's seen someone have a seizure knows that there's nothing you can do but sit and hold them while they shake and convulse, and you just have to try and keep them from hurting themselves, and it's a horrible thing to see, especially when it's someone you love. An an interview Justin said the drilling was to keep his "Dr. Jekyl/Mr. Hyde" personality meteorically in check.

In essence, to me this song is about not being able to help someone when you can't even hep yourself, but loving them too much to not try. I also agree with what someone said before about this part: "I lift your feathered left arm where you hide your heart from me. I never noticed it was swollen with a touch of brutal pain. I never knew a heart could live inside the rust from all your rain, all your rain." I think it's about coming to understand that person better and know that there were things they were shielding from you to protect you while you did the same, referring back to the beginning: "Moving every inch around you to diffuse your private bomb. I stretch my self surrounding and protecting you from harm."

The last bit would be all about hope. Not wanting to give up on that person and the struggle to keep moving forward. About how difficult it is to do so because it seems like every attempt at happiness or even a small smile is a battle.
