I listened to this song, quite a lot, because I felt it apt to my situations. He was seeing a girl. And I was deeply in love with him, but I couldn't tell if he felt the same. he was always chatting to me. It felt like flirting. I couldn't tell if he liked me. But he made me feel like a different person. He was making me feel different. Another guy asked to go out with me, because I was single, but I refused to. I didn't feel anything for him, but I was lonely, but instead I objected, how could I go out with someone who I didn't feel any sort of love for? I was still in love with him. He and his girlfriend split up, and he was still flirting with me. He admitted to me he fancied him. And we talked of going out, but in the end decided not to. Everything in this song, is how love can make you feel, regardless of the fact that the person might not actually love you back :) |

My thoughts on this song are as follows. Well, at the start of the song, they talk about how they knew love could be true. This is when I believe they lit the fire of love. "When a lovely flame dies, smoke gets in your eyes" for me basically means that when love fades, the fire goes out, you cry. The smoke is caused as the flame goes out, as in most cases, it does. The next part of the song is an explanation of why the singer has been crying, explaining that, when a lovely flame dies, smoke will get in your eyes. (Metaphoric explanation of crying) |
