If anyone watched the 1979 cult classic The Warriors, the entire video makes perfect sense. All the gangs of the city, with their own crazy gang uniforms, converge for a summit called to meet all the gangs. Flooding the streets, they all come out on their bikes. While I do see the suicide, I think it is about one man's absolute love for a girl. She has been to the edge, maybe threatened suicide, but he stood by her no matter what. Even if no one will be there for her, he will always. As for the "Weightless" and the part of her hanging in the air, I do not believe that is physical. To me, the traveling is not a physical place but rather a past, or likely current crush/love. The fact that nothing looks the same means she is not the same comfort he once knew, and he he doesn't think she will ever be again. However, he still wants to find his way back into her arms, even though he knows the love and comfort he had with her before is changed, or even gone. He is desperately reaching out for her to catch him, to bring him to somewhere(someone) he loves, but she is gone. Beautiful song |
