The Jesus and Mary Chain – Just Like Honey Lyrics | 12 years ago |
To me this song is about unrealistic love. It sounds to me like a guy is falling for a young temptress even though he knows that nothing could possibly come from it. He knows that what they have is sweet but painfully temporary. Thus, while it kills him inside, he cannot return to her. I have had different thoughts about the "eating up the scum" verse. I am now under the impression that he is saying that no others compare to this love thus they are scum to her honey. Personally this song means a lot. Everything about it feels vulnerable and broken and I love it. This is what music is to me. |
Belle & Sebastian – Simple Things Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I hope that every person in the world can find a song that they can connect to strongly. For me this is that song. It is simple and profound. Triplicate and file under "Things to make a young boy sigh". It scares me how deeply eleven words can touch you. |
The National – Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I am almost 100% sure it is 'geeks' not 'geese' Also is it not string ourselves up for 'love' not 'the'? Regardless if anyone has any insight as to what Vanderlyle is please respond... Thanks :) |

The National is the best band. Period. This is one of my favourite songs of theirs and I am so stoked to see them play it live at Massey Hall this June. Breathtaking lyrics. |
The National – Lemonworld Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Sounds to me like he fought in the war and has now come back a troubled man. He drinks to get his mind off of the war and what happened there. He has found himself alone in the city working hard to make a living and uses the analogy of a lemon to describe the worlds appearance to his brothers and sisters who have not tasted its sour core. |

Lemonworld... Bright and cheerful on the outside... sour on the inside... |
