Alice in Chains – Would? Lyrics 9 years ago
It's about finding your way, and going through endless trials and tribulations to get there. There are moments, in one's personal journey, when you feel stuck and don't want to move. In these moments, you have to train yourself to push forward. Naysayers, and people who may have power over you, will try to break your spirit and passion for life. It's about transcending these adversities and learning to fly, even if it gets you lost.

Faith No More – We Care A Lot Lyrics 12 years ago
It's easy to be indifferent to the ways of the world, but that just leads to one living an empty life.

The Kills – Heart Is A Beating Drum Lyrics 12 years ago
Quite simply, I think the song is about replacing an old love (whether it be a person, or thing, etc.) which one that is exactly the same. The two lines that especially stick with me are "If you feel like you've been here so many times before" and "It takes more than you wanted before". It's kind of like the old saying "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results"

Audioslave – Shadow On The Sun Lyrics 12 years ago
I agree with some of what others have said, but I have my own variation on the meaning.

I think it's about a person who is very loving and compassionate towards others. He understands people and is always willing to carry others' burdens, relieving them of their pain and hardships. These burdens, however, makes him into a very cold and distant person. He finds himself alone with a cynical hatred, which slowly drives him crazy.

He ponders for a reason as to why he is the person that he's become. Is it life? Is it people? He doesn't know.

He comes to realize that it is himself who caused him to become this way. While other people are able to put their problems behind them, he holds on to them. With no one to share these burdens with, he gives into what he has become and remembers fondly the person he once was.

Chevelle – Still Running Lyrics 13 years ago
I love this song.

I think this could be about two people in a bad situation, and neither side has the courage to admit that it's not working. They're waiting for each other to end it.

"Say it, say it...that it's done. I want it, want it, need it done."

It could also be about a person, in their own bad situation. Unable to face the reality of things, they just continue to run from it, waiting for someone else to tell them what they already see.

Queens of the Stone Age – A Song For The Deaf Lyrics 13 years ago
I have very little idea what this song is about, but I'll take a stab at it anyway.

I think Homme is trying to say that you have to sometimes let stubborn people be stubborn. You can't waste your time constantly preaching to someone or trying to make them see things your way. In the end, it's like talking to the deaf. I especially sense this message in the chorus. He's speaking as someone who understands himself and the world, and doesn't care about other people's perceptions ("Broken reflection...nobody ever needed it").

I also believe that he's comparing deafness to blindness in the "blind can go get fucked" verse, with the latter being a metaphor for ignorance. It's one thing to acknowledge a circumstance, and not allow it to change your views or ideals. It's another thing to be in denial. Stubborness and ignorance are not one and the same, in his eyes.

30 Seconds to Mars – R-Evolve Lyrics 13 years ago
I think this song is talking about how we, as people, learn and grow (evolve) from our past experiences. The hardships and struggles that we go through in life are what help define us. Those who accept the trials and tribulations of life, with become better and stronger people because of it. Those who attempt to bury their past, will only be consumed by it. By accepting who you are, and no longer trying to hide certain aspects of yourself, your allowed to finally 'feel' alive.

The Smashing Pumpkins – Disarm Lyrics 14 years ago
I think the song's about being forced to abandon the youth within yourself ("I used to be a little boy, so old in my shoes"). Having everyone around you wanting you to do away with living life without any care, other than your own dreams and desires ("What I choose is my choice. What's a boy supposed to do")--and how the people who urge us to kill the kid within us, are the same people who were once in our position ("A killer in me, is a killer in you").

OneRepublic – All The Right Moves Lyrics 14 years ago
I think the song is meant to be about how easy it is to look a those who are successful, and try to emulate and walk alongside them. Those who stay true to themselves, however, will be the one who come out stronger in the end--while those who follow eventually fade away.

It reminds me alot of the book The Fountainhead. Keating gains massive success through having powerful friends and compromising his ideals. By the end, however, he falls from greatness--whereas Roark, who is disgraced for his ideals, triumphs over society.
