My friend committed suicide this past year, and at both his funeral and viewing this song was played. For me, this song is bittersweet. It reminds me of him... Mostly this part.... "By now you should have somehow Realized what you're not to do I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do About you now" To my friends and I, we interpreted this song as sort of our cry out to him. |

"talkin' to my shadow, he advised me not to worry, he said I should plant my tree and let it rise out of the fury " Here Slug is making a reference to a poem called "the poison tree" by william blake which is about a man who holds his anger inside of him, leading him to murder his foe. It's basically saying that bottling up all this anger inside of him can lead to destruction. |
