Yeah, just to reiterate what others have said. This song seems to about a relationship that Chris may have messed up. Whether a lover, a family member, or friend. And he wants things to go back to the way they were before he ruined them. For me, this song is about losing a friend and a lover. It lasted barely a month but it was a beautiful month. He ended it when things started to get a little bit more serious for me than he wanted. Apparently, because he is going away next year he didn't want to hurt me by letting me get too attached. Well, it was a little bit late for that. I know you don't meet and fall in love in one month, but sometimes in life you just find that one person who feels like your other half. You are alike in a lot of ways, but what you do lack they have, and what they lack you have. So complementary. That is what it was like, just a perfect month that taught me a lot. It's been over for a while now, but today I noticed that this song was quoted in his facebook Status. I don't like to read into things, but it was nice to think that maybe he still wanted me, that maybe he had felt that connection too. |

This song, to me, is about two people who love each other but somehow still grow apart. They have so many differences, but together they were perfect. But, their differences eat away at them. And they eventually have one big blowout and they both know they were in the wrong but neither can bring themselves to admit it. "I know you were right, believing so long."
So they move on knowing that if they had worked a little harder it would've been beautiful. But they move on, as people do, feeling at little lost, and regretting what could've been. |

I relate this song to a situation I am currently in. I had been with this guy for a couple of months and I had known from the beginning that he had been hurt in the past and had a track record of running, and dodging commitment. But ,things were going really good and I wanted to figure out where we stood and put some kind of definition to what we were because the only real word that could describe it up until that point was "booty call a friend." But he was running, before the words exclusive and "only be with me" left my mouth. And the worst part was he never gave me a straight 'It's over.'He didn't "Give it to me straight." I could've handled an 'I don't want you' or 'I don't think this is working' but he just stopped talking to me about being together. We're still friends, we don't talk as much but I still have feelings for this guy, and all I can do is hope that someday our friendship (that we still maintain sex free) will break down that walls that he has put up so we can be together and "Start all over again." |
