The Sundays – Blood On My Hands Lyrics | 12 years ago |
A one night stand that could've been more, or maybe a single person sleeping with a married one, explaining "blood on my hands." I could have swear a couple of these lyrics are incorrect: but now I can afford to "listen to the willfull say NO" and too your for the "widsom in my mind" and the days are getting longer so I better get stronger "Balls." |
Delphic – Counterpoint Lyrics | 13 years ago |
He could be worried about someone...maybe they are suicidal or bi-polar...the repeating of just tell me nothing's wrong today really emphasizes their worry that their not hearing from that other person. |

Cold War Kids – Audience Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I know many will disagree with me, but there are many references to drugs in this song: drop the needle, were playing for an audience of one two's too many when your playing for an audience of one If you are jonesing, pacing a linoleum floor is appropriate...the friend she doesn't approve of is a friend that she knows is using drugs and she doesn't like the influence...he and the friend are driving recklessly to hook up, crossing 3 lanes of traffic to make their connection timely... and the bridge: One gets all of you two's jealous Three gets even less When I first heard this song on Blalock's Indie/Rock Playlist, I swore the lead singer was a black female...imagine my surprise when I pulled up the youtube video! Not many young, white boys can sing with soul. Four divides you up, then you're left Pleasing all your guests |
The Church – My Little Problem Lyrics | 13 years ago |
If only I could find the original acoustic of this song featuring clear tremolo, my life would be complete. I think it was featured on live radio a long time ago...it's not on MWP acoustic CD. I know this song is about repeat rehab visits, but I just love the chords, and especially the tremolo when it falls right. |
The Church – Monday Morning Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Having so much fun all weekend makes a horrible Monday morning! |
The Church – Metropolis Lyrics | 13 years ago |
This song reminds me of when my husband and I lived mid-continent USA and we would fantasize of driving all night to get back to Tampa, Florida--where we met...where the oranges grew and the weather was rediculous. |
The Church – It's No Reason Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Song about starting over in a cold-turkey kind of way. Interesting how the chorus preaches apathy about such a thing...very profound. It's no reason to be sad/glad. |
The Church – Is This Where You Live Lyrics | 13 years ago |
So easy to make a home movie to it, showing all where you live...fun. |
The Church – A Month Of Sundays Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Tripping in a whorehouse. Sounds like fun. Sunday is supposed to be a rest day to kick back, so a month of them can't be bad. One of my favorite Church songs. |
Wakey!Wakey! – Square Peg, Round Hole Lyrics | 13 years ago |
oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, ohhhhh....can't get it out of my heeeeaaaaaddddd!!! Love it. |
CocoRosie – Lemonade Lyrics | 13 years ago |
This song brought up some deep emotions. It's almost a 'happening' and not a song. Redefining 'folk' music! |
Caribou – Odessa Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I just love the disco 'gay' sound of this track. It sticks to your head like potatoes to a spoon. |
Balthazar – Fifteen Floors Lyrics | 13 years ago |
And I don't know The words by heart But it sure makes sense Ever since that we took part (In the sins that we took part) She said, Birth Control, Caffeine Sick of daily routine Birth control in between Dancing with Billie Jean Run to hell by midnight hours (?) sticks and take a shower (swim the Styx and take a shower) My interp guess: A prostitute was found burned in the hotel room let by he and his friend. He's being questioned by the police on his recollection of the incident. |
Bombay Bicycle Club – Always Like This Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Being a fag hag, I immediately took the lyrics to mean something similar. A man coming out who is in love with a female and it's reciprocated, but he is still toiling with his sexuality. |
The Black Keys – Chop and Change Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I could listen to this song over and over again. It's so sexy. Everything in it is so well put together. I bless the day I came across Blalocks Indie/Rock Playlist...I found this song there and now I am addicted to this band. |
MGMT – Weekend Wars Lyrics | 14 years ago |
As a weekend warrior myself, I can fully relate to wanting to put off my millions of things on my 'to do' list. Drugs would help cope with the anxiety of it all, I am sure. Sometimes I wake Monday mornings wanting a weekend away from my weekend. I just can so fully relate to this song. I never thought of post-apocolyptic meanings, but, isn't that something we would all fantasize about if the everyday bog down has become hum drum? |
The New Pornographers – Execution Day Lyrics | 14 years ago |
the word execution is used in it's 2 contexts...one meaning 'beginning' and the other, 'ending' as if to kill...how very punny and clever! |
