@johnnytemptation - i like that interpretation, it fits the song perfectly, but i see it in another way although i may be completely wrong. i see it as though it is saying that some people who lie are oblivious to the fact it will come back to haunt them. my favourite line is the first line about as subtle as an earthquake i know, my mistake were made for you" < how i translate this. you usually feel earthquakes and they are usually very destructive. he is kinda saying that the way he tells his lies probably seem little and not a major deal but in actuall fact he knows how destructive it could be. i think the next lines show this aswell. especially "And it's as solid as a rock rolling down a hill, The fact is that it probably will hit something,On the hazardous terrain." i think here he is saying that his lies are slowly becoming apparent and people are taking notice of them. just like a rock going down the hill his lies will probably hit a point were they dont take affect anymore and just simply break up into nothing. the other bits about the girl, well maybe shes the one whos recognised them and starts playing on his conscieonce, telling his that if he doesnt stop others will notice it and if he doesnt give her something then she will sprag on him and get him into alot of trouble, hense the " And it's a lot to ask her not to sting.And give her less than everything"Around your crooked conscious she will wind" his crooked conscience is the lying part of him. cba to put owt else, thats how i see it |

| didnt really get this song at first but now i do, it seems like hes saying he wishes he had seen a girl or spoke to her but never got the chance because he concentrated too much on impressing her to get her attention. or another way i look it is like when you love someone but you never see them before, as soon as you are with them and you break up you look for them all the time and you always sayi never saw them before i knew them and its because you never looked for em, maybe the girl has moved on and doesnt notice him wheras alex hasnt and always notices | |

omg im in love with this song its amazing :D one of the best b sides by them ever :D cant stop listening to it. i dont reli know wat its about to be honest i know a scimitar is like a sword and that would explain the sharpened arc and cuts you down to size :P but i doubt its about fighting seems more like dancing around in somewere glamourous either way its genious <3 <3 |

first time i heard this i loved it =D i get the impression from it tht its about a guy who plays around with the girl,but she is in total denial of how much she loves him she doesnt see it, and when she realises that he does it he turns on the charm again and she comes running back to him. is the ending pointing out that he cheats on her? "And I've seen him, talking to your lady friend" "There's a dust track waiting for betrayal" < then she tries to get away because she knows hes bad but she cant and has to accept maybe what hes doing , GOD ITS AN AMAZING SONG THIS <3 |

what i get from this song is prob what most people do, he has lost a girl he is truly in love with so goes to drown his sorrows but it only makes it worse him getting pissed in the pubs (battleship, parots beak etc )because he thinks he is seeing the girl, when hes not, the only way he can get over her is pretending that he doesnt care nd going for other girls but when he does he just wants the girl he loved to be tht person and they reject him, the last verse confuses me a little bit with the sister thing could possibly mean she reminds him so much of the girl he thinks it must be her sister or something along those lines. as for the chorus well taxi home maybe? instead of seeing her he smells her in the cab and wants to hold onto it coz it reminds him of her. overall i think the whole song is about been devoted to someone so much u imagine things to make it better, a way of getting over them. |

| in general this song doesnt need to be explained, because it speaks for itself about his and alexas different lifestyles in and out the spot light its obviously to do with the fact that the person this is about wants something to change, does anyone else think that 'rather be beside then infront of' could be about alexa nd him? nd tht she would rather be beside her man then watch him perform and be infront of the crowds? and vise versa for him, just a thought but it could make sense | |
