Bright Eyes – A Perfect Sonnet Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I think he's tired of meaningless relationships and he's envious of lovers that last the tests of time. Cupid's arrows have had short lasting side-effects for him. Maybe he just longs for someone worth more than just one nice night, but instead a smattering of goodnights and good-byes leading to later hellos. Since relationships have thunder; they're stormy, they're made of both joy and sadness, people give up. But he doesn't want to. And yet he does. It's simple to just skimper in the sunlight, keep things light because people's storms make people weary to wander -weary to love. So if you find desire, cling to it. Stay with it through the "worst of weather." -after the storm comes the calm. and in the end True lovers should be draped in flowers. For they've made it through the tests of times. |
Bright Eyes – A New Arrangement Lyrics | 14 years ago |
"Because it is the moment that you are living in And not the one that follows That makes the mess you are cleaning in your head And time still drags you forward Although you keep resisting Because you know it is what you leave behind " This reminds me of how I wish I didn't have to grow older. You keep resisting Father Time, but whether I want it or not, it will inevitably drag you in its grasp. But- the song. The song in it's whole seems to be about a girl that never speaks her mind, that bottles things up like a confetti shooter while everyone around her waits for a blow. It's hard on the people close to her because she's got a lot to say but might not know really how to say it. Seems like Conor is just asking her to try. To open herself up and just spit it out. What are thoughts worth if they're bound with silent string? |
Bright Eyes – A Line Allows Progress, a Circle Does Not Lyrics | 14 years ago |
PS: and I think his friend's addiction is just running in circles, without any real hope of change. The kid just keeps running away and running right back to his midnight fix and his mixed drinks. |
Bright Eyes – A Line Allows Progress, a Circle Does Not Lyrics | 14 years ago |
"Laying around, no school today Just drink until the clock has circled all the way" -I like how the title mingles with these lines. I wish Conor's friend wasn't stuck in such a rut though, it's hard to see someone you love deteriorate. The habits don't seem like they really heal the emptiness anymore and whatever they though was an escape just keeps growing more unreliable, and everyone sees it but them. -the lyrics are so honest and vulnerable too. "Because it won't ever remember What you choose to forget" I think Conor's trying to get his friend to face the facts. He sees them thinning out into a skeleton and everyone around him shows concern, but people don't change unless they want to. This was Conor's way of maybe letting out his frustration for his situation, feeling powerless to stop his friend's fate. |
Bright Eyes – A Few Minutes on Friday Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Long distance relationships are hard. Without her, constantly, he just becomes all too aware of his loneliness. When he finally gets the chance to be with her, it's as if she's still just that far out of reach. Since he never gets the chance to say whats on his mind, he feels like maybe he's loosing her and that the only one who will end up getting burnt would be him. But he's still reaching. PS: I bet I'd be friends with that lady, foreign films just vivify. =] (you guys should watch Amelie, great French film.) Great song, great song, great song. |
Bright Eyes – A Celebration Upon Completion Lyrics | 14 years ago |
He is celebrating the joy and brightness that were carried into his life through his grandparents, but felt that that same sparkle was dulled down when they passed away. It's just his way of making a memorial of them, sharing the fondness that they created in his life. Maybe they helped raise him in a sense and he feels lost and unhappy, unable to feel that same joy without them. |
