The Mountain Goats – Rain in Soho Lyrics | 6 years ago |
The Batcave was an OG Goth club in London's West End before Goth was a thing. I imagine it was a place where like minded people could meet and revel in their sorrow and darkness. Loners and Lone Wolves finding a pack. This song seems, to me at least, to speak to the romanticism of a lost place and moment in time where the narrator found community where previously non had existed. |
The Cardigans – Feathers and Down Lyrics | 12 years ago |
So you trying to do what they did Your friends that turned to liquid And got lost in the sea And now you’re drowning me With your talk of four-leaf clovers You turn to rocks and omen To beat the ambient harm But it’s bruising your karma Oh, I wish my arms were wider I wish that I could hide you So you can rest and repair Without the blanket of sorrow The thick and the grey Your blanket of woe So heavy and stained And it only weighs you down, oh So you thought that getting sober Would mean your life was over I don’t think it’s that bad I don’t think it’s that sad Just you sleep a little baby Leave the world alone and later If you wake up alive That old blanket of sorrow Could be feathers and down Your blanket of woe Would leave you alone And I can love you 'til you drown Come to me let’s drown, oh Come baby let’s drown In feathers and down |

A Camp – Elephant Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I caught you smiling With pointed teeth What once was beautiful Has turned bitter and cheap So now there's nothing I can do for you But leave your roses out to die I misbehaved I'm in your way I'm in your way Like an elephant Gentle smiling With pointed teeth Now there's a war between My high hopes and me So this is how you put an end to things By cutting throats with a smile I misbehaved I'm in your way In your way Like an elephant But in the corner of my mind A little angel's saying Don't waste your love You love too much |
Freedy Johnston – Wichita Lineman Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I was just listening to the Freedy Johnston version of this song, and he varies from the original lyrics. The corrected lyrics are as follows. Thank you. I am a lineman for the county And I ride the main road Searching in the sun For another overload I hear you singing in the wires I hear you through the whine And the Wichita lineman Is still on the line I know I need a short vacation But it don't look like rain And if it snows that stretch down south Will never take the strain And I need you more than want you And I want you for all time And the Wichita lineman Is still on the line And I need you more than want you And I want you for all time And the Wichita lineman Is still on the line |
