| First of all, I absolutley love this song... its positivly lovely.... I think that this song is about life and not knowing where you are going in life or where you should be going, and just being unsure of what you want to do with your life.. kinda puts you in the state of being scared of whats gonna happen next, and anxiously scared of the unknowing... these are the most simplest and beautiful lyrics, the words mean exactly what they say.... and i love it!!! | |

| i definately think its interesting to hear some of the ways people portray songs.. because it is all different, and i think it means something a little different to everybody becasue not everybody is at the same place in life and each person is going through different changes and trials so each one of us takes it a different way depending on whats going on your life.. but i would still like to know exactly what the artist was feeling or what it meant to them because then you can take it into a whole new perspective of a different person.. | |

| the way she posted her lyrics could now have a different meaning to some... mainly because of the punctuation... alot of peolpe cant figure out what 'trains and sewing machines' means... but here its clearly a question... and people could have takin things differently also here when she says 'mid-sweet talk, newspaper word cutouts'.... look at the difference to both postings and all of the differences is mainly punctuation... the punctuation markings mean alot because a period after a sentence means something way different as to an exlamation point or a question mark... | |

reply to: LainxLightning, and alonano how is this song about the Holocaust? ya it makes sense but only in certain parts..... how do you explain the rest of the song.. you cant only explain bits and pieces of the song, its like poetry you have to look at it as a whole... so unless someone can explain every word and phrase and how its metaphoricly relating to the Holocaust, you got nothing...especially since it goes like " Mm what'cha say? "Hide and seek Trains and sewing machines All those years They were here first" "hide and seek" like they are lost without that person... and they are waiting to be found again...mainly thinking about the years wasted on something that turned out to be nothing... "Oily marks appear on walls Where pleasure moments hung before The takeover, the sweeping insensitivity Of this still life" she's looking around in a specific place maybe a house or somwhere where alot of time was spent with this other person whom they felt they have lost.. but she's looking back and thinking about all the good and bad memories as if they were just pictures she was looking at, like the memories dont feel real because when you think about them it makes you hurt and feel empty because you dont have them anymore or more that you are losing them... "Hide and seek Trains and sewing machines Blood and tears They were here first" this is basicly her taking her life into consideration.. "Mm what'cha say? Mm what did you say?" this is pretty self explanitory... she's two people here... she's restating what the other person ,whom shes losing, is saying to her...like a break is something thats needed, and that in the end its gonna be better that things turned out the way they did, and they are pretty much deciding everything without taking what she thinks into consideration.. so she's only agreeing, its more of a sarcastic argument... "Ransom notes keep falling out your mouth Mid-sweet-talk newspaper word cutouts (paper word cutouts) Speak no feeling; no, I don't believe you You don't care a bit You don't care a bit" and then this last part is saying how the other person is acting like them leaving doesnt matter, but they still try to be around to work on things or act like they care, but in the end she's saying how she feels numb and realizes that that other person doesnt care so she's saying stop speaking and making excuses because you dont care about whats going on... this is my portrayal on what this song means, a shortened brief version... and maybe im wrong.. but this is what i get out of it and i know alot of people that look at it this way.. but please feel free to correct me if im wrong... |

| I do think that you have the right idea... but i dont think that he is specificly talking about bipolar.. it just sounds like it because its so durastic talking about manic and depressed.... I think at least in my point of view its more talking about putting on that front when someone is going through durastic changes and there emotions are just so up and down because you might feel lost or lonely... when you feel lost you go through times where your really happy and you feel like your starting to figure out who you are but then something happens to shit all over your selfconfidence which makes you feel depressed... so it is about a life cycle but i dont think that its specificly pointing to bipolar.... its more the emotions of going crazy because you dont know how to feel... hes expressing the emotions.... | |

| it could very well have some sort of literal meaning to him...like its obvious he's talking about somebody... but to me its still the metaphors that captures his feeling... and i think there has to be or it wouldnt be bright eyes... most of his music are based off of metaphors that express his feeling, thats what makes bright eyes music so brilliant, in my opinion anyway... | |

| this song is 100% brilliant with all of the metephors being used, but even still i think the metaphors are clear enough to know what he is talking about and how deep the feelings are.... its so blunt.. to me anyways it makes me think of someone who is in a deep depression or someone thats dwelling on something or someone that will never happen.. like calling them a fool! and when it says "The sunrise and a sunset, hold your sadness like a puppet, keep putting on the play" to me its talking about someone that is hiding there feelings to everyone and puts on a show in front of everyone... like depression..but ultimately telling you to get up and move on almost like a news flash... because as any ousider they would look at things as if it were all to be pathetic... | |
