The Beatles – And Your Bird Can Sing [take 2][Version] Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Is this the take where Lennon and McCartney laugh like drains? Love it that they loved being Beatles. |
The Wonder Stuff – Who Wants to Be the Disco King? Lyrics | 11 years ago |
At the time 1990 was full of bands following the "baggy route" by adding a synchopated drum beat and a groovy bass line to a guitar riff with a snazzy phrased lyric. Many a top ten hit was sought out and won this way. Not judging, still tap my toe to many of them. The 'stuffies' never wavered from their narrow dark legged jeans roots. They added piano and fiddle after this homage to the bright lights of disco. |
The Beatles – I'm Only Sleeping Lyrics | 11 years ago |
If you look at the cover of "Beatles for Sale" you will see what somoking dope and promoting the Beatles across the world does to a young Beatle. John was plain knackered. We all know the feeling of needing just 5 more minutes, that's all the song is about. |
Kate Bush – Prelude Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I think the woodpigeon (Kate) is pleading "Don't grow old Bertie". (Kate's son/sun) |
The Streets – Everything Is Borrowed Lyrics | 14 years ago |
One of his best. If you like the uplifting hammond organ on this, you may want to listen to "Forever" by the Charlatans |
The Wonder Stuff – 30 Years In The Bathroom Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Apparently written after Miles Hunt took a major "huff" one night on tour and locked himself in the... you've gussed it, bathroom! |
The House of Love – Glorify me Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Mean and selfish, but honest and upfront about it! |
The House of Love – Loneliness is a gun Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Possibly Guy Chadwick's finest (there are a few candidates). Out of depth and heading for shore.. is this retreating from the depths of a committed relationship? Is the diamond in your eye a close up view of someone's tear filled eye? |
The Beatles – Can You Take Me Back Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Paul McCartney often has the theme of returning home. "Once there was a way, to get back homeward…" on Abbey Road "As he carries me home to the Mull of Kintyre" In interveiws he said his initial reluctance to participate in LSD experiments with fellow Beatles was due to his understanding that once it is taken, things would never be the same again, in his own words "there would be no way back home". This short track, almost a lament as jaZZjaZZ54 suggests, can perhaps be interpreted as a White Album era McCartney starting to weary of the Beatlemania and longing for a return to simpler times. |

Doves – Kingdom of Rust Lyrics | 14 years ago |
The phrase "Kingdom of rust" could well refer to the decayed industry of the region. Could be an allegory to his relationship with his first love from the area and/or his family? |
Badly Drawn Boy – Pissing In The Wind Lyrics | 14 years ago |
A lovely wee song. I think "the groung shifting between his feet" is his fame changing how people view him, thus "the people he greets don't know his name". I think he is looking to love as much as to be loved, "give me something, I'll take nothing" Is his lack of chance of meeting someone now overwhelmingly changed "drought crippled by the rain"? The situation where a person who has a lot of love to give and perceives themself as not immedietely 'loveable' and meets a similar person could be "a tortoise catching the snail" Someone needs to drive the passion however, "it still needs something, give it something" Just my musings... nice insights tubesocks. |
