I don't know, but it doesn't compare to the original. When I saw them at Cornerstone, 2003, I actually made the suggestion that they release this album, because it's too great to be obscure. I always liked the album better than "Splinter Shards". Not saying they re-did it b/c of my suggestion, but this is one that woulda been better left alone. The little sound effects come off as goofy to me. In the original, they meant something. "We're weak now... I'm getting sick of this place..."

The song is about knowing ourselves, our origins, blood, culture, and individuality, and being true to it. Posers, followers, or sellouts would likely never understand, so I guess that includes the majority of society. Never heard Pavarotti's, but prob be an interesting rendition. Actually heard Throwdown do this one on "Sounds of the Underground" tour as a tribute for Dimebag Darrell. Sepultura shoulda changed their name when Max left, but Cavaleira Conspiracy sure brings back memories of better days. Max is a bad MF who has made some brilliant contributions to music in the past 20+ years, and Iggor made me wanna start playing some real drums, not the "Lars" style. |

Yes, this song helped me through a very bleak time in my life as well, although "Parade of Chaos" followed was much like the prior album in it's deviation from prior themes and lyrical prose. What I mean is that for those unfamiliar with Zao's previous albums, it is not obvious that there is anything Christian about the album because it's bleak. I loved the album & this song, which is obviously describing the hypocrisies and misrepresentations of many who wear Christ as a label. There is no comparison though to the poignant beauty of "Blood and Fire", a true worship album. |
