I actually thought it was about the War on Terror with Bush as the boss. It seems to fit, except for the fact that he is no longer in charge. Thank Gawd. "I swear it's like dying/to catch a ghost" You can't catch the spirit of the people, but you'll sacrifice a shedload of soldiers in the effort. "When the army had to hold the line, you were nowhere near the front" Self-explanatory. "Before the kids could tell the dog could bite, you were loading up your gun." Pre-emptive strike, finding imaginary WMD's, etc. The dog being the WMD's, the kids being America. "Feels like I'm jumping towards a train" Must feel like the stupidest think a soldier could do. Fast moving, endless, powerful, impossible to stop, your action will prove futile. And of course, "Tried to put the fire out" (trying to end terrorism) "but you used gasoline" (testimony to Bush's ignorance when he said that he wouldn't distinguish between al-Qaeda and those who housed them. Glad Obama fixed that cock-up. And "try to fake a way" means there's no chance of winning it, but they need to make up an excuse to GTFO. It's pretty convenient that it fits, even if it's totally not what it's about. |
