Wolfmother – Vagabond Lyrics 14 years ago
I love how this song was used in (500) Days of Summer. And I like how Tom was just aimlessly bouncing the tennis ball and suddenly he started bouncing it to the beat of the song, symbolizing that he's starting to get back into the rhythm of life.

And since the song is talking about "being free", it's only suiting that they would use this as Tom is getting over Summer and be a free man.

She & Him – Why Do You Let Me Stay Here? Lyrics 14 years ago
Why is she "sitting on a shelf"? Is it a metaphor for her acting like a "doll" or a lady and not wanting to make the first move?

Owl City – Fireflies Lyrics 14 years ago
I think it's not so much wanting to hang on to your childhood as it is just not wanting the day to end.

He says, "I'd like to make myself believe/that planet Earth turns slowly", meaning he wants time to slow down. And then he adds, "I'd rather stay awake when I'm asleep/'cause everything is never as it seems." So he doesn't want to fall asleep and dream, because he'll have to wake up and face the reality that everything that happened to him in his dreams were all imaginary.

As for all the fireflies, he's just imagining all these magical fireflies in this dream world because, again, he uses it as a sense of escapism ("Please take me away from here") from his everyday life. They're lighting up the sky and teaching him how to dance, and it all just feels right and wonderful.

But when they leave in the last verse, he cutely assures himself that he's kept a few "in a jar" to release when he doesn't like his other dreams or his real life and he needs that serene feeling again.

Great song. Like someone said, you can't help but feel so happy, peaceful, and optimistic.

I kinda interpreted the "stay awake" part as that he doesn't like to sleep, because when he wakes up he knows that everything good and magical that happened to him while he was asleep was all a dream, and it's hard to take that reality.

Rihanna – Russian Roulette Lyrics 14 years ago
By the way, I think it's "think of the value of my life" and not "pick up the value of my life".

Rihanna – Russian Roulette Lyrics 14 years ago
First off, I just want to say that most of her songs (although it may be all of them) Rihanna doesn't write. So don't think that any of her lyrics are personal. She's just a product--she has the looks, stage presence, and voice (I guess). She's not an artist.

Now for my interpretation of the lyrics:
Russian Roulette is a lethal game of chance; so in this song, Russian Roulette symbolizes the chance she's taking in what must be an unhealthy relationship. She keeps mentioning "he" as the one who is giving her the gun and telling her what to do, so that's her boyfriend who is maybe giving her an ultimatum: stay with me or else. He's trying to calm her and make it seem like it's all easy, but you can sense her apprehension and fear.

She has decided to stay with him, which because of all the death allusions in the last verse and final gunshot at the end of the song, forebodes she has made a harmful, deadly (physically or spiritually) choice.
