| I don't actually think this song is about God like everyone else. I think this song is from a widowed woman's prospective. She has lost her husband and is thinking about her son. The beginning is her thinking about now she's the only one to call her child son because his father is gone, then she's thinking about how her son will never have a father to impress and how the mother will do anything for either the fatehr (whom she wishes was still with her) or her son. | |

| I don't actually think it's about God. I can see why someone might think that, but then why would it be called for the widows in paradise? I think it's about a child and mother who lost their father/husband in a war or something. It's a beautiful song, anyway, even if I'm wrong on meaning. this'll be a long post... sorry "As the flashbulbs burst she holds a smile, Like someone would hold a crying child" seems like she's smiling, but sadly, thus the crying child part. she's sad, but she's smiling anyway, for the picture "Soon everybody will ask what became of you, Your heart was dying fast and you didn't know what to do" is like soon, her and this man will either be split up, or in a bad unsuccessful relationship "you live in someone else's dream, In a hand-me-down wedding dress" is like a lot of girls dream of their wedding days and it's their dream, but it's not hers, she doesn't want to get married. "With the things that could have been are repressed, But you said your vows and you closed the door, On so many men who would have loved you more" is her marrying this man for something other then true love. it's like she knows there's someone who will love her more, but she's marrying him anyway. "Soon everybody will ask what became of you, Your heart was dying fast and you didn't know what to do" is her breaking down after a while, realizing she doesn't love him. "The whispers that it won't last roll up and down the pews, And if our hearts were dying that fast, they would have done the same as you." is saying that everyone knew it wouldn't work, but she was getting older and that a lot of people would do the same as her yep, long comment, thanks to anyone who read the whole thing |

i was wondering if it's about a girl or a guy because the first part seems like a guy who asks a girl to dinner and she's not sure whether to go or not the next part seems like she goes to a friends house. they seem depressed, but why? and is it the same boy from the beginning or someone else? it seems like the singer is trying to cheer them up. the next part seems to be about the fears, aspirations, and craziness that's inside us all. about how your past affects you but you work through it. |
