Dan Auerbach – When the Night Comes Lyrics 13 years ago
I'm wrong. But that's still the way I interpret it. To each their own.

Dan Auerbach – When the Night Comes Lyrics 13 years ago
I may be way off here, but I think he's telling this to someone dying. The night is death. When it comes, don't be afraid of the things in your past. You'll be in the afterlife with the ones you love.

That's what I imagine it to be about.

This song is absolutely perfect. I could listen to it over and over all day.

I fear that I've become the person narrating this song. I'm so bitter and reserved that I don't tell the ones that really matter how much I truly love them. What a shame.

Iron & Wine – Naked as We Came Lyrics 14 years ago
This song is so lovely and romantic. It's got the cute banter about who's going to go first but at the same time it breaks my heart. It must be fantastic to be so in love with someone. So content and happy, even with the jokes of their death swirling around them.

If we go along with the Into the Wild idea, it would be from his Sister's point of view.

"Our older brother bit by a vampire"

She thinks he was bit by a vampire/sudden transformation from son and brother to stranger.

"For a year we caught his tears in a cup
And now we're going to make him drink it"

Just a thought, but maybe "his" tears are really the tears of her family. She refers to them as his because he caused them. Now they are becoming angry with him and when he comes back they want to make him "drink" them. Basically they want to show him how much he hurt them by leaving.

"Come on Alex, don't die or dry up."

Even with all of the hurt he cause she can't help but still want him back.

I love how at 5:30 into the song it starts to wind down and almost gets me dizzy.

Iron & Wine – Dearest Forsaken Lyrics 14 years ago
I'm assuming the empty bottle was referring to her husband being an abusive drunk. He's gone and so is the alcohol.

Another reason I think it's about a husband: "Dearest vow I have broken"-breaking her marriage vows.

Manchester Orchestra – The River Lyrics 14 years ago
This is going to sound insane; but every time I hear this it reminds me of a song from the movie The Santa Clause. Just the music of course-not the lyrics.

As for the lyrics, I can relate to them. I see it as someone who doubted religion/God at some point and tried living without it. Only to realize they still talk, sing, and pray to God everyday. Now they want forgiveness for ever doubting that God was important/real to them.

Iron & Wine – Resurrection Fern Lyrics 14 years ago
So far I'm torn between thinking this is either about a couple who lost their baby and are mourning/healing over the years, or it's about two boys who fell in love young and didn't end up together. Both ideas fit the lyrics perfectly. The song is light and gives me a sense of hope, even if this about loss. The overall point I'm taking from this is that you have to love what you have-when you have it. Everything changes. Things don't always end up the way you want them to, but you will always remember the love you felt for that short time when everything was right and uncomplicated.

Manchester Orchestra – I Can Feel a Hot One Lyrics 14 years ago
I totally get what you're saying here. I agree with your interpretation most. I think the first few versus are about how he finds out she has cheated, then she stays to try to fix things which only makes it worse. Like she is taunting him. He isn't going to forget, even though times were good in the past. Which explains the "manna" reference.

He knows it is going to end and he is realizing how he ignored all the signs because he became complacent. He didn't want to ackowledge what was happening because he would be forced to deal with it. Later looking back on the relationship he realizes that even though everything they had fell apart, he still loves her.

My ipod was on shuffle and this song came on. I had just added the album a few days before and hadn't listened to it yet. I honestly thought it was Beck. I was amazed at the beat and the eerie chorus.

As for the lyrics, it comes across as simple- almost desperate adoration for the person they are referring to. I can't stop listening to this. <3

Regina Spektor – Laughing With Lyrics 14 years ago
I agree with this explanation most. You can tell she's being sarcastic when she's laughing during the song. I don't think this is supposed to be pro or anti-G*d. Just her view of religion as a whole.

Arcade Fire – Intervention Lyrics 14 years ago
This is almost exactly what I get from the lyrics. The only difference is that I don't think the person is in personal debt.

"You say it's money that we need,
As if we were only mouths to feed,
I know no matter what you say
There are some debts you'll never pay."

I see this as their way of saying that money isn't going to buy what the people truly need. There are some things you can't take back no matter how much money you spend to fix them. Possibly in reference to the way the church was paying people off who were molested by priests.

"We can't find you now,
But they're going to get their money back somehow,
And when you finally disappear
We'll just say you were never here."

I also think that this part is trying to explain that if you turn your back on the church they will still find a way to get money from you. Even if you stop showing up and donating every Sunday. And when you finally get sick of everything being about money then they'll leave you to rot. You'll be invisible in their eyes. Hinting towards the religion as being more about making money then healing lost souls.

I could be totally wrong about all of that. But it seems reasonable.
