This song kills me because of how close it gets to the truth. And I get it - every listener will of couyrse interpret the lyrics to fit his/her own situation, but it seems pretty straighfroward to me. So here's my take on it: I agree with the others, about one of them screwing up, or the relationship getting bogged down or something ("dude screwed up. but she won't let him back in")... but they are still very much in love, or he still really loves her. And he just wants to get away, show her how much he loves her, escape all this crap... he feels that their love is above all this trouble they are going through, and it's the most important thing in the world to him. "If I took you for granted I apologise for acting tough You're my reason for living And there's no way I'm giving up" I think the most powerful lines in the song are "And I know what your friends say/ He's just wasting your love and time/I will never let you change your mind," because as much as may be going on, he'd do anything for her. Kind of reminds me of Californication (the Showtime show - where Hank keeps messing up, but Karen is his everything). Anyway, I'm a dude and I don't really cray at songs, but I think this is the closest I've ever come to it. It seems that this couple is very much in love but some circumstances or other just don't allow them to be together and they are letting themselves be overwhelmed by it. They want to be together, but something or other is just not right. Which is I guess where I am at, why I take this song so close to heart. |

| This woman has the most beautiful voice I've ever heard. Ever. Anyway, I love the simplicity of the lyrics. I think they're pretty self-explanatory. I wonder if she is trying to pull her lover away amidst the chaos of everyday life, from the arguments and the petty disagreements to a place where they may love one another with no worries. | |

I wonder if it's about a breakup, about him asking her to wait in one last desperate attempt to tell her how much she means to him as she's about to leave? "As I'm leaving the one I want to take" That's the one way I see it... he's coming to terms with their breakup (maybe she is leaving him), but he wants her more than anything and it's his last shot? That way, the line "My heart has started to separate" makes more sense. |
