The Offspring – You're Gonna Go Far, Kid Lyrics 14 years ago
As a 10th grader taking AP Gov, I had LOTF on my reading list and I just got around to finishing yesterday. This song has a lot of references to the book such as the lines

"And turning all against one"
Over the course of the story, Jack who is the main antagonist turned everyone against Ralph who is the main protagonist. Piggy, who sticked with Ralph until he was murdered by Jack's tribe, was murdered for that reason alone. Then you get a line like this:
"Another clever word
Sets off an unsuspecting herd..."
A key word in the story was "Beast" which is what Jack used to get people to join his tribe. He offered protection from "The Beast" which he claims to have seen. In truth, he thought he saw a beast which in reality was a corpse of a fighter pilot. So naturally, he created a lot of paranoia and fear of "The Beast." The only one who knew the truth about the beast and could have stopped all of the paranoia on the island, was Simon who was murdered right before he was about to reveal the secret of "The Beast." Ironically, he was murdered because Jack saw him running out of the forest and mistook him for the beast. And now we get to the Chorus:
"Now dance fucker, dance
Man, you never had a chance
And no one even knew
It was really only you"
There's not much to explain here. When Simon was killed, the tribe formed a circle around him and danced while they killed him. Simon never got the chance to explain that he knew the truth, or that he wasn't the beast which is said in the line "Man, you never had a chance..." Like I pointed out, No one knew that it was Simon which is stated in the lines "And no one even knew, It was really only you."
The next part refers to the very end of the story when almost everyone is against Ralph and wants him killed.
"With a thousand lies and a good disguise
Hit 'em right between the eyes
Hit 'em right between the eyes
When you walk away
Nothing more to say
See the lightning in your eyes
See 'em running for their lives"
The first line, "With a thousand lies and a good disguise, Hit 'em right between the eyes" refers to how Jack built his tribe on lies and fear and also how his entire tribe had to wear facepaint. The second line refers to how Piggy was murdered by getting hit with a rock from his face, to his knees. The next lines "When you walk away, Nothing more to say" refers to how, in the very end of the story when adults arrive on the island and restore order between everyone, no one is a leader anymore, there are no more tribes, and in the end they were all just scared little kids who tried to imitate the world they grew up in. And the last lines "See the lightning in your eyes, See 'em running for their lives." is about how Jack completely went savage and tried to hunt Ralph down to kill him.

Or it could be about drugs.

Gorillaz – Rhinestone Eyes Lyrics 14 years ago
Someone on the G-U Forums brought this up.

"Your rhinestone eyes are like
Factories far away"

The first part about Rhinestone Eyes is how Rhinestones are supposed to be fake gems and how we will settle for fake things over real things. Also the second part "Factories far away." is how you can tell if someone is lying so you can see the lie being told or "manufactured."

There were lots of immigrants in the 80's and they speak different languages that Axl doesn't understand. Also Immigrants and gays always start controversy and then they're the first people complaining that no one accepts them (ex. The "All mexicans are criminals" stereotype. Something had to have started it)

Guns N' Roses – Sorry Lyrics 14 years ago
I GOT IT!

The chorus of this song isn't written from Axl's POV because it says "I'm sorry for you, Not sorry for me" It's written from the POV of the fans. Axl is basically saying that everyone is against him for the breakup of guns n roses. So everyone feels sorry for slash because of Axl and yet no one feels sorry for Axl because of everyone else asscociated with him that fucked up his life INCLUDING guns n roses from AFD to UYI 1&2. The next part of the chorus is Axl saying that the fans don't know who to believe: Axl- For something (Haven't figured this out yet) or Slash because of his popularity. "You choose to hurt those that love you
An won't see them free"
This line is also in the fans POV and it is axl's interpretation of how every blames him for breaking up GnR and holds everyone else responsible for it.

You don't need
Anyone else to be
Sorry for you
You've got no heart

This is what everyone thinks of Axl including his former bandmates. They think he's a heartless person who doesn't care about anyone other than himself.

Axl's POV:You can'Fan's POV:All that you've done for me
AXL's:I know the reasons
You tear me apart

The last line is axl saying you have every right to be angry with me because you don't know what really happened.

Gorillaz – November Has Come Lyrics 14 years ago
Something has started today
(Hard to explain in words but basically "We have a newfound freedom")
Where did it go? Why you want it to be?
(What happened to said freedom?)
Well you know November has come
(November in this song refers to the month itself and also the month that we vote in)
When it's gone away
(When November comes, what happened to our so-called freedom? It comes back when it's too late)

In my view this song is about how we fall for political lies and when we realize how bad things have gotten we figure out that it's too late to do anything which is explained by the line "Well you know November has come and it's gone away"
