To me this song is about a guy who has this emotional hold on a girl; no matter what she does to move on and not give in he has this power to persuade her to stay. Or perhaps he has this power over her emotionally that he's always with her. She can't forget him and that is also having power over a person. She's telling him to set her free and let her be because she doesn't want to be fragile and weak anymore. She wants to stand tall and be how she is supposed to be. So, she knows this guy is no good for her. He's neither friend or foe, but he still keeps her down. Beautiful song. |

To me this song is about letting go of all the pain & bitterness from a failed relationship. She is saying that you cannot live with so much venom inside of you and it's heavier on your soul than the weight of cement. Metaphor of course. It seems as if she was with this guy for a while but he wasn't moving further ahead and she felt like time was going by and she was wasting her time. She says in the song," I hope you don't expect me to wait for you past the age of 26." So, she's telling him to leave her alone because she is vulnerable and does have feelings for him but No, she's got to let him go and let go of the pain but in order for her to do this he needs to disappear from her life. Make sense? lol |

To me this song is about casual sex; this woman is meeting up with this guy at a hotel for obvious reasons. Except, she regrets it. She really thought this guy was something special. He's very sexy and obviously seductive & of course she fell for it. Turns out, she made a mistake because he really is JUST in it for the sex. So, perhaps she feels kind of lame for falling so easily for such a seductive guy. OR could be based on just another failed relationship, but the song doesn't imply this so much. What do you guys think? Love the song btw. |

I love this song; it is very retro & I love the gospel influences. I think this song is about a woman who is asking God to forgive her for hurting a man badly. Ex: "Leaving fragments of a man so broken," "Lord have mercy on my soul," and "For I have walked a sinful road." There are other lines of course. I think it could be a woman who cheated on a man or played games with him just for her own pleasure. Unfortunately, I can relate =( What do you guys think? |
