At the Drive-In – One Armed Scissor Lyrics 11 years ago
It's clearly cosmonauts calling from their space station because they've been taken over by an alien life form and their station has sustained too much damage, hence the line "this station is not operational". They're calling for help but really they know they're just explaining their demise since it's too late, "will you get this letter" and "I write to remember" tell that. The lyrics are so well written, this song is amazingly stressful.

Tennis – Marathon Lyrics 11 years ago
It's about going sailing from the Florida Keys and getting to Coconut Grove, Florida where the tide is higher than they anticipated. Then a storm starts to roll in, not even the fishermen are out in these winds, and they're in danger of getting trapped. It's gonna take the night and the day to get back to Marathon.

At the Drive-In – One Armed Scissor Lyrics 14 years ago
This song is, I think, the easiest of theirs to decipher. It's about a person lost in space. "Cut away" from everything through literal alienation, the one-armed scissor is a metaphor for a broken machine, i.e., the spaceship which is now useless because it has been taken over by another species. It's written from the perspective of someone who doesn't know what will happen, or if he will live, and has to remind himself just what is happening and why he is writing all of this in the first place.
