Ben Folds – The Luckiest Lyrics 14 years ago
I cry every time I play this song. I love how Ben Folds seems to allude to how love defies time where " in a white sea of eyes I see one pair that I recognise" because their souls are linked together accross time and the eyes are the windows of the soul.

The part about the elderly couple is so perfect. There are accounts of this actually happening--a medical reality which is testimony to how love can join people together in a life bond of sorts.

I played this at my wedding because it so beautifully illustrated what love is.

Ben Folds – Landed Lyrics 14 years ago
I just want to say thanks to Ben Folds for writing this song. It helped me through my divorce under a controlling husband. After the divorce I felt like I had landed in a strange place and had to look around and ask for help back to my old life and self.

Wow, Ben Folds captured those sentiments so well!

Ben Folds – Prison Food Lyrics 14 years ago
When I heard this song it reminded me of being in a situation similar to prison where you grovel for scraps of happiness when you can get them. They are subsistent, but they keep you going through the most impossible times. I have heard of riots occuring in prisons just for running out of ice cream for a special meal. This is the type of desperation this song seems to be zeroing in on--you can't bear the punishment life deals you, so you look forward to that small moment of pleasure like that weekly bowl of ice cream.
