The National – Lemonworld Lyrics | 14 years ago |
From songfacts.com: "Berninger explained what a Lemonworld is to The Quietus: "A Lemonworld is an invented, sexy, weird place where you can escape from New York. I had some image of it being a big beautiful, maybe semi-decrepit house. You know the documentary Grey Gardens? It's set in a house out in the Hamptons, it's about this crazy mother and daughter who live there in their own little world. It's also very depressing and odd and beautiful. Anyways, I had this sense of a Lemonworld as a place where these two sexy sisters who wear bathing suits all the time and drink a lot, y'know, 'put flowers in my mouth and we can say we invented a summer lovin' torture party' — that's awesome! That's sexy, weird, and fun. My wife and her sister are very close in age, they're both hilarious and sexy and brilliant, so I think I was channeling them a little bit. It's a fun world." |
The Tallest Man on Earth – The Gardener Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I kind of saw it as that he is always giving her different flowers when he did something wrong. |
Gorillaz – On Melancholy Hill Lyrics | 14 years ago |
My absolute favourite song off the new album. I think it's kind of uplifting in away, even though it can make you really sad at the same time. I aggree that the song is about a guy that wants to show a friend that the happiness she is looking for is actually right next to her. But he doesn't specifically encourage her to think that he's the one, but is also willing to help her at the same time to find that happiness. "if you can't get what you want then you can with me" It can also be seen though as encouraging her again to pick him. Anyway, great song. My favourite at the moment too. |

This is by far my favourite song off the new album. Simply amazing... |
Kings of Convenience – Cayman Islands Lyrics | 14 years ago |
The song is probably about a couple travelling through Amsterdam. This song was originally called "The Amsterdam Song" wich makes sense because of the lyrics "these canals it seems, they all go in circles" |
The Antlers – Two Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I always thought the whole albumwas about someone dying of cancer and it is being told in the perspective of his or her friend... Anyway, really beautiful song and a great album. |
Bombay Bicycle Club – What If? Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I just love this song... It is defnietly about a shy person and keeps thinking If only one of us had the guts tonight? |
Fionn Regan – Hey Rabbit Lyrics | 14 years ago |
my favourite song from this album even though all of them are brilliant in their own way. And I too think its about addiction, being high with "ideas like sparrows" and hearing voices in car parks... Or about the world today referring to the last bit with no one these days says thank you when you open doors for them anymore. |
Coldplay – Strawberry Swing Lyrics | 14 years ago |
it's funny how they use "now my feet won't touch the ground" so often. they use that lyric in life in technicolour, strawberry swing and now my feet won't touch the ground. can anyone explain that to me? |
