Brandon Flowers – Playing With Fire Lyrics 13 years ago
My opinion is that this song is about finding your own path in life, about taking decisions that some might see as too risky, but that you know you must take in order to follow your dreams/beliefs/callings(...playing with fire, you might get burned, right?... but then again, you also enjoy the heat & the light)... I don't think it's an argument between father & son/daughter, but much rather, a son/daughter coming to a mature age and departing from home on his/her way... Of course, things might not be easy, but that's how life is... We each follow our own way and bear hope in God above. The decisions one takes might be life changing, but the truth is that life is also about the journey and not only reaching a destination. Better said, in order to reach a destination you must make the best of your journey and take some risks... Otherwise, yes, you might get there in the end, but there is a big chance you get there empty handed. And it's also better to take bad decisions at times, than not taking any decisions at all. Good or bad, decisions measure a life's value; you cannot measure a life's value if no decision is ever taken.

OneRepublic – All The Right Moves Lyrics 14 years ago
This is just my opinion, but I think this song is about trying to make a real or a valuable statement in a world in which the system of values is torn or misundersood. A world in which everybody wears masks and "dances" to a set of rules that are governed by material or social values (very nicely emphasised by the video). The spirit or the art itself are put aside. True values in art or society are hard to find in this world and it's hard for them to come to the surface because they just don't sell... You either "dance" to this rythm, or you're... "going down"...

The Killers – Sam's Town Lyrics 14 years ago
My interpretation of this song is the following: it talks about the band itself and how they made it big in the UK... It talks about the mix between the American culture and icons and the British sound and atmosphere. When Hot Fuss came out I was surprised to hear The Killers wasn't a British band... But let's not forget about how proud The Killers are about their home land and how they accused other US bands of promoting a bad image of America. And I think this is a tribute to their home town and country because without their roots they couldn't have made it... I think that the whole album is a kind of testimony of how they came back to their roots... They don't neglect their origin, in fact, it makes them proud and it makes them who they are, but they also hold a special place in their hearts for London and the UK, the place where they became famous: "I see London, I see Sam's Town / holds my hand and let's my hair down / Rolls that world right off my shoulder / I see London, I see Sam's Town, now"... You just cannot separate the two places because they are what makes The Killers.

Leonard Cohen – Love Itself Lyrics 14 years ago
I can't believe that nobody commented on such a beautiful song... :) I can't even express how much I respect and cherish the genius of the artist Leonard Cohen... I love all of his songs, but now I particularly relate to this one... It expresses so delicately how easily love disappears sometimes, either because we let it slip away or because we just don't see that it's there, right in front of our eyes.... Love Itself... I guess it's true when they say that you can't see with the sun in your eyes!

Arctic Monkeys – The Jeweller's Hands Lyrics 14 years ago
The more I listen to this song's lyrics, the more it makes me think they talk about falling for the wrong person.... About being blinded by who you think it's perfect for you... and who, obviously, isn't. The title of the song is "jeweler's hands"... I think this is a metaphor in order to describe a very versed and witty person who can totally blow someone off their feet with their actions. A jeweler is also like that because he also has to be skillful, artful and precise. The art of a jeweler usually attracts, especially girls and women.... they fall very easily for gems and jewels, just as easily as they fall for the witty and sweet words of a man. And even though at some point they might realize it's all in their head, it's already too late.... The nice thing in all of this is the fact that learning from our mistakes make us who we are. I like the fact that the song is somehow round and I see the story pretty much the following way: It begins with the falling in love part "Tread soflty stranger/ Move over toward the danger that you seek", "Handsome and faceless/ And weightless, your imagination roams", then it goes on with realizing it was a mistake "And now it's no ones fault but yours/ At the foot of the/ house of cards/ You thought you'd never get obsessed...But you know what it's like to hold the jeweler's hand", then very shortly after comes the proof, because the guy leaves "He became laughter's assassin/ Shortly after he showed you what it was", meaning that he showed the girl/woman how it feels to laugh with happiness and than killed everything with his leaving. The last part of the song means learning the lesson, even if it's painful and at the girl's expense: "If you've a lesson to teach me, Don't deviate, don't be afraid/ Without the last corner piece I can't calibrate,/ Let's get it ingrained"... Once again Alex Turner you've outdone yourself!

Arctic Monkeys – Cornerstone Lyrics 14 years ago
I must admit that I'm quite fond of this band and I really appreciate Alex Turner's talent in writing lyrics. I really love this song... I's kinda sweet, well, at least in the way I see it :)... In my opinion it's about a boy who falls in love at first sight with a girl that he doesn't know... Maybe he only saw her once, but couldn't approach her... And now he keeps looking for her in different places and sees her in other girls, hoping that he'll meet her one day.... This is my favorite part: "So, tell me where's your hiding place/ I'm worried I'll forget your face/ And I've asked everyone/I'm beginning to think I imagined you all along"... So delicate.
