Tupac Shakur – Dear Mama Lyrics 13 years ago
Tupac did not write this song while he was in prison. This song was released while he was in prison, but "Me Against The World" (which is the CD this was released on) was written and recorded before he went to jail.

Pearl Jam – Black Lyrics 13 years ago
That's not true. Stone wrote the instrumental part, but lyrics were written 100% by Vedder. Before Vedder penned the lyrics the song was called "E Ballad".

Stone Temple Pilots – Plush Lyrics 14 years ago
"eddie vedder is full of himself no matter what he says and completely embarrised himself in his battle against ticket master"

The TicketMaster stand wasn't Eddie's fight, that was Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament pushing that, you uninformed nitwit.

If you're going to attack someone, at least make sure he was actually the one fighting for it.

(BTW, Pearl Jam was absolutely right. Ticket convenience charges right now are absurd. Pearl Jam song this long before it got to this point. It's a shame nobody else in the industry stood up with them).

Pearl Jam – Porch Lyrics 14 years ago
This song's definitely not about abortion. The entire basis for that argument was the MTV unplugged edition. IMO he was making a statement about a topic at the time, but Porch just happened to be the guitar solo he chose to do it around. Nothing I've ever seen Eddie Vedder say, and nothing I see in the lyrics, lead me to believe the actual song is about abortion.

IMO the lyrics are clearly about the unexpected loss of a loved one. "at least I coulda learned your voice one last time" (losing someone close). "daily minefield" (his life blowing up). "this could be the day" (meaning, you could lose it at any time).

It's definitely about the loss of a loved one, the only question (to me) is whether it's a breakup or a tragedy. I tend to think it's about a tragedy, and that we should cherish the time we do have together before it's over.

Pearl Jam – Leash Lyrics 14 years ago
Unlike most pearl jam songs, where vedder likes to let the audience decide what it means and fit it in their own personal life, Eddie Vedder has been fairly open when discussing what this is about. It's about the same girl he described in "Why Go", and about her reaction to her parents, as previously described.

Meat Loaf – Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad Lyrics 14 years ago
K-Wise:
Close, but not exactly.

Someone challenged him (Steinman) that he couldn't write a "simple" song. At that time Elvis's "I Want You, I need You, I Love You" came on the radio. That's when he came up with the "I want you, I need you, but there aint no way I'm ever gonna love you" (two out of three ain't bad) lyrics.

"JS - I think, you know, Meat has a little bit of that. He, it's a lot of Elvis soul in him. You know, it's funny 'cause I took him in a totally different direction with the kind of writing I did except the one song that's interesting about that is Two Out of Three Ain't Bad. That came very specifically, I do remember that one was, a friend and I named Mimi Kennedy, who's a TV actress, now wonderful actress.

JS - She was my best friend's girlfriend at the time, now wife. I remember her telling me, she said, you know, when I was probably complaining why no one liked my stuff and couldn't get a deal, she says, well Steiny, your stuff is so complicated. Can't you write something simple, and while she was saying that the oldies station was on the radio and it was playing that old Elvis song, I Want You I Need, whatever it was.

JS - I Want You I Need You I Love You, you know. I just started singing my own song but it was I Want You I Need You I Love You. She said, why don't you write something simple like that, I want you, I need you, I love you? I said, well I'll try. I don't try to make them complicated. I remember going home and I tried so hard but the best I could do was: I want you, I need you but there ain't no way I'm ever gonna love you, don't be sad, 'cause two out of three ain't bad.

JS - So it was still a twist but it was my closest to a simple song, and one Elvis could have done"
