Chris Corner – You're the Conversation (I'm the Game) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
As for me, I think this song is more about the singer's developed attraction to this unnamed "soldier" - metaphor, obviously. Long read, I know. Bear with me! :) She's sounds like she wants to be emotionally detached to everything, whereas he's actually getting her out of it, just by being there. And he probably doesn't even know he's doing it. The singer wonders if he's for real or not, if he sees her the way she starts seeing him: "Photographs paint mistakes in your suitcase So listen, Conversation, I've lost the way. I want to be the fool in your suitcase." I take this line as her wanting to be a part of his memory - because she in turn, is learning so much from him. "Photographs" being memories, "suitcase" refering to his experiences in life, maybe. But it sounds like she thinks he should treat her like a bad memory, yet even so, she hopes he'll remember her. "Fool in your suitcase" She also praises him as if she's his secret audience in: "Soldier, shine on, with your conscience open and the curtain falls in with the drums" (possibly referenicing someone stepping out on stage and the curtain falling down behind them while introductory music plays in the background) Hence her reference about him being 'conversation' - he's friendly, understanding, and listens. She's the 'game' - someone who doesn't take things seriously. |
Britney Spears – 3 Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I agree with 'wajiha23' and 'ChristopherDisco'. And it's not like they (the record label)would release a song if they thought it wasn't going to be popular/controversial. Then again, Britney's music isn't exactly child-friendly anymore - and true, kids will listen to it, but then, that's like saying Britney is the only artist on the radio they hear. |
Britney Spears – 3 Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I never knew that. Thanks for the info. Anyway, I re-posted this comment 'cause I thought it would be somewhat of an explanation for people who took the "Peter, Paul and Mary" line for being a Biblical reference. My personal opinion? It might be just common names, or if anything, maybe a reference to that band. Or something along those lines. |
Britney Spears – 3 Lyrics | 14 years ago |
DISCLAIMER: I saw this comment on a Britney fansite, and I thought it was a pretty good opinion. Credit goes to the girl who wrote it (Kelly) for having an open mind. "I posted this on the chat box earlier, but incase anyone feels a little uncomfortable with the song, try thinking of it like this: "Peter, Paul, and Mary" can be taken in two contexts - The biblical one, and the "common names" one. We'll go with the religious relation, then. (The actual writer(s) of the song probably wrote it in for shock effect, though.) Anyway, since "Peter, Paul, and Mary" were said to be followers of Jesus, the song might be a subtle reference that compares Britney to Jesus. (LOL, no, Britney is not a deity! XD) I'm talking about Britney's influence over millions of people. The three people in question might be a reference to fans in general (here's where the "common names" context comes in, since anybody can be her fan), where their loyalty to someone they idolize makes them open or easily persuaded to try something because of how significant they think their idol is. In that way, it can be said that because she's suggesting a threesome, her fans (or whoever) might agree to it, because Britney asks/tells them to. For the lazy: Maybe it's Britney's influence over her fans being compared (quite dramatically) to Jesus' influence over these three particular people in that one line." |
The Ropes – Kitty Get Down Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I like the symbolism (I may be reading too deep though). Cats are usually portrayed as independent, social, and playful. And moreso, they seem to love heights. There is a comparison between heights and security; with some people, they feel better observing or being in the sidelines because they aren't comfortable with peoples eyes being on them. (The 'higher' or more distant you are from people, the more you can be yourself) The song itself is interesting because whoever the singer is talking about seems to be a happy-go-lucky person (cat analogy), but seems to hide self-esteem issues - so he/she goes up the tree to escape his/her fear of being ridiculed/judged for who they are. So the singer takes it as their goal to make sure the 'cat' isn't afraid anymore. "Here kitty Do you think you're safer up there? Here kitty Not in this atmosphere Hey kitty All the trees are getting crowded now Hey kitty Isn't it time you stood your ground?" In reality, everyone seems to have the same fear, but the singer wants this particular person to not be like everyone else who hides. "Fireman's pity" refering to someone having to help them out, where the singer wants the "cat" to get down from the tree by itself. Hence, the convincing. WOW. This was long. Sorry! XD |
Adele – Make You Feel My Love Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I read somewhere (Wikipedia?) that she actually sang live in the video for the song (which is why it sounds just a little different from the album version). |
Beyoncé – Sweet Dreams Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Doesn't the tune (the beginning intro) sound like Michael Jackson's 'Beat It'? |
Lily Allen – Chinese Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Why is everyone commenting on people's obvious stupidity to grasp an obvious song title?! If you keep writing it down and they still don't get it, save your typing energy XD All that's left now is for someone to comment "OMG , this song is so racist. Chinese people aren't food!" On a lighter note, I like Lily's songwriting, it's very 'staight to the point' but it has meaning behind it. |
Britney Spears – Don't Hang Up Lyrics | 14 years ago |
No offence to 'spickly' but here are the more accurate lyrics: Baby, I'm lying all alone My pillow, is all I have to hold Can't feel you, God it isn't fair Without you, I still wanna take you there (Don't hang up) It's just gettin' serious (damn) You're making me delirious (Don't hang up) 'til I'm finished with you - I'm not alone (Don't hang up) I am not alone, I can still feel you even when I'm lonely, and now I'm comin' too (Don't hang up) I am not alone I can still feel you even when I'm lonely, and now I'm comin' too Tell me, (tell me) tell me what you see Feel me, feel me underneath Slowly, we begin to breathe Hold on, hold on 'til your release (Don't hang up) It's just gettin' serious (damn) You're making me delirious (Don't hang up) 'til I'm finished with you - I'm not alone (Don't hang up) I am not alone, I can still feel you even when I'm lonely, and now I'm comin' too (Don't hang up) I am not alone I can still feel you even when I'm lonely, and now I'm comin' too You're far away, but we'll find a way Ooh baby now, let's make it right now close your eyes (damn) (Don't hang up) It's just gettin' serious (damn) You're making me delirious (Don't hang up) 'til I'm finished with you - I'm not alone (Don't hang up) I am not alone, I can still feel you even when I'm lonely, and now I'm comin' too (Don't hang up) I am not alone I can still feel you even when I'm lonely, and now I'm comin' too (Don't hang up) I am not alone I can still feel you (Do you feel it too?) even when I'm lonely, (close your eyes) Now I'm comin' too I am not alone I can still feel you even when I'm lonely, now I'm comin' too. |
Britney Spears – Womanizer Lyrics | 14 years ago |
That's probably the best interpretation I've ever heard of this song. |
Britney Spears – For My Sister Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I like how you can hear her real voice in this song. |
Britney Spears – Womanizer Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I hear it too, and it does sound like "oh shit". Maybe it's a sound effect though, but whatever it is, it sounds female! XD |
Britney Spears – Shadow Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I agree with 'envysinnocence'. It's about someone falling in love with a created image of their significant other/unrequited love. "The sun is bright The sky is black Can only be another sign I cannot keep what isn't mine" I think what those first two lines mean is that things don't seem right because they aren't. Literally, anyone who saw a dark sky with a bright sun would think 'you don't see that everyday' XD The next two lines sound like whoever she's singing about was never really hers in the first place - because she fell in love with the dream of what she imagined he'd be like. Also, how come Britney's really good and meaningful songs never get more than 6 or 10 comments? |
Cansei de Ser Sexy – Music Is My Hot Hot Sex Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Thanks for this! :) |
Britney Spears – If U Seek Amy Lyrics | 14 years ago |
This song doesn't exactly have to be about 'F-U-C-K M-E' at all, really. I may be over-analyzing this but the song would have a deeper meaning just by adding a comma. "Love me, hate me Say what you want about me But all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to (,) if you seek Amy Love me, hate me But can't you see what I see? All of the boys and all of the girls are begging to(,) if you seek Amy" If you put a comma right after "begging to", it makes it a reference to the earlier line in the song: ("Say what you want about me"/"But can't you see what I see?") eg. "...all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to (say what they want about me), if you seek Amy" or "...all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to (see what I see), if you seek Amy" Setting aside the obvious pun, Britney might be saying "Once you find the side of me the public doesn't know (Amy), then you can say whatever you want about me since then, you'll know the full story." Sorry for such a long comment, I just wanted to explain a point I thought would be relevant. :) |
Britney Spears – Kiss You All Over Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Definitely! I think it's the only remix of the song that's actually good! |
Britney Spears – Lace And Leather Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Who else loves the guitar rift towards the end of this song?! |
Madonna – Get Together Lyrics | 14 years ago |
One of Madonna's best songs, no doubt! WAY up there with 'Frozen'. |
Michael Jackson – Tabloid Junkie Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I like how he doesn't sound completely angry in the song itself - just frustrated and a little cocky. The feeling of anger is there, but he'd rather be smart about it than go on a rant. And the chorus! Wow. |
Depeche Mode – Freelove Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Everyone can relate to this whether they admit it or not. Deep down, I guess almost everybody wants to feel the physical connection with someone else who feels the same way - even when they don't necessarily know each other ;) Either way, this song sounds optimistic and carefree - it may be a song about one-night stands, but then the singer actually CARES about the feeling attached with it. |
MGMT – Kids Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I guess that's the beauty of MGMT's songs. They have many interpretations per individual - no need to focus on just one. Whether it ranges from 'environment' to 'drugs'. btw, has anyone seen the music video? I'm not exactly the biggest fan of kids (real ones, not the song title XD) but did anyone think the actual kid in the video would grow up to be traumatized because of all those monsters that kept following him? 8D |
Alanis Morissette – Hands Clean Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I admire how she writes her lyrics. Like she chose specific words and they just perfectly convey the meaning. |
Britney Spears – Don't Hang Up Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I agree. Most people tend to focus on the singles. |
