I think this song might have something to with a guy getting used by some woman. Either that, or it might be about a fling of some sort. Or maybe it's about something completely different. To be honest, I'm not too sure what it's about. Of course, like EyeMtheWalrus said, it's got Ringo on lead vocals, so it's good with me. |

I'm inclined to agree with nilblog and sophia1014's interpretations. The song's about how the world is, and how we all are, made of energy, how we all have this great potential, and how, in the end, everything's "gonna be all right". All this is linked to spirituality and how discoveries related to matter are pretty irrelevant since everything's made of energy.
All in all, a great song. I love its optimism and cheerfulness. It's actually kind of Beatles-esque, imo. =) |

It's about a guy who's been betrayed by his girlfriend, presumably by way of infidelity. Fairly self-explanatory in that regard.
I can really relate to this song. I've actually never had someone cheat on me. However, I've been in a couple of situations where thoughts like "when I saw him [or her, as the case was] with you/ I could feel my future fold" and "did you mean to break my heart and watch me die?" crossed my mind.
In all, this a very underrated song, IMO. A lot of people don't like for its sound or don't realize it even exists, which is a shame, since I think it's a lovely and somewhat tragic song. |

This song makes me think of a classmate of mine. She relies a lot on other people -- especially me -- to do well and refuses to actually learn, work, and think for herself. She's changing schools next year, which means she might actually start thinking for herself, since I won't be there with her. Of course, she's probably going to latch onto someone else and cause them misery.
Anyways, I love this song. It's one of the best from Rubber Soul. |
