Green Day – Holiday Lyrics 14 years ago
you know, the American idiot is a character in the story, it isn't just a rant, and as for Holiday I'm not rly sure about that one, but it might have something to do with JoS

Green Day – American Eulogy: A. Mass Hysteria/B. Modern World Lyrics 14 years ago
This song is definitely kind of Apacolyptic, b/c in 21 Guns, Christian and Gloria both give up what they were advocating for, peace and equality etc. Now everything breaksdown into Chaos. The part with "Calling Christian and Gloria" I'm guessing is calling for them to come back, the few right-minded people realized how much they had helped, and now, w/o them everything's gone to hell. The Modern World part of the song, especially since it's sung by Mike and not Billie could be them trying to give Christian a voice, maybe those are his words (christian's that is) during Modern World? idk just a theory

you could be right irondal2, but also if you've seen the video, it has a big part in the 21st century breakdown storyline (don't forget the CD is a rock opera) the characters Christian and Gloria are kind of brought to an end in the Climax of the story in the music video. Because after they give up their cause, and what they were fighting for (21 guns) it all turns to Mass Hysteria, and the whole "I don't wanna live in the modern world" Christian believes that all that's good in America has died "American Eulogy"

most likely this is not a sweeping statement about the military, but a reference to Christian and Gloria, b/c in the video, that's obviously C and G in that room,

Green Day – East Jesus Nowhere Lyrics 15 years ago
i can definately see a big statement in this song of religious hypocrisy, how we go to church every sunday, and we praise God, and we donate to the offerings (like you said) but when we get out, we're just as corrupt and(for lack of a better word) bad as anyone. also the "Don't test me, protest me, second guess me, you will disappear" part could be referring to God, especially since the word 'me" is used so much, and how christians fear Him

Green Day – Viva la Gloria! Lyrics 15 years ago
i wish i could be as deep and analyzing as you are...so if you're right, then later on during ¿Viva la Gloria? (Little Girl) it could be like Christian comforting Gloria as she realizes that she's slipped into a life of a sinner, or a throwback to her innocence and a review of how her life had gone wrong.

Green Day – 21 Guns Lyrics 15 years ago
i agree, it could b about it christianity, and to the guys who replied to this, every1 knows that christians dont actually pray to the statues, and if they don't then they're very ignorant. If this line is about C&G then i would say one of them lied and is remorseful about it and is trying to get forgiveness from the other, who is being cold and emotionless (stone)
