I've never been able to understand the rationalization of songs. The meaning can vary from person to person. I respect all interpretations of this brilliant song. I think life is about learning, experiencing, and discovering about yourself and others. This song makes me think of love and the complexities that exist in relationships among individuals. I've been guilty a hundred times over of waiting on love or a moment that would fulfill some artificial desire of acceptance. True acceptance comes in understanding and appreciating yourself then looking out at others and trying to connect and understand them. Anytime I hear this song I just take a deep breath and realize there is more to life than satisfying my ego. |

You wonderfully describe this song. A slow dance on a raindrop falling in slow motion into a circus...yes, yes, yes! You're brilliant, marry me! On another note, I love how love is portrayed in this song. I remember falling in love and the level of devotion that, in hindsight, was consuming me. I truly was completely swept off my feet. The Flaming Lips articulate emotions in a way I can't begin to explain. What a gem of a band. |
