A Lot Like Birds – Ted Bundy's Thanksgiving Dinner Lyrics | 12 years ago |
the full lyrics are: Distance is Confidence He's exactly the same With a different last name I promise that I will take you home I meant nothing But I am the way home |
The Dear Hunter – Economics Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Just got the Dear Ms. Leading Demo today, it's amazing. This song should definetly been included on the album, since it's about Ms. Leading not being a whore anymore. I'd also like to note that this song sounds a lot like Progress, off of the Color Spectrum. |
As Tall as Lions – Lost My Mind Lyrics | 12 years ago |
This song along with We's Been Waitin' (which I've already commented on) really do seem to be about Killimanjaro. The band had lots of problems being small time, and this song seems to reflect (again) on Dan. He had lots of anxiety during shows and recording, but tried his hardest to stay with the band. The hidden track is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, though. There's also some lyrics missing from it though, but I can only hear fragments, like "Took a bow and..." "No one could ever stop" "Hearts grow faster now" "We stood (stopped?) Heaven and Hell" |
As Tall as Lions – We's Been Waitin' Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I don't hear "Smile, Smile like you mean it" at all, I always hear "So Smile, Fuck me" but that may just be Freudian. Anyway, I think this song is about Killimanjaro, which is basically ATAL without Dan. The band knew that this would be their last album together, so to me it just sounds like Dan wishing them well, but my opinion may be biased by the fact that he's singing the song. |
HRVRD – Like a Tattoo Lyrics | 12 years ago |
This is the earlier version of the lyrics for The Interpretations EP, there's also an earlier version of The Earth and On With Disease. The songs are completely different, aside the lyrics. When I submitted these I didn't know that and no one pays enough attention to Harvard for me to take it down. |
Rabbit Junk – Blood Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I agree, it sounds like he's watching his son's surgery after finding him after an accident. |
The Dear Hunter – Life And Death Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I'm pretty sure in the first verse, it's: "We all left hearts We all have homes" Meaning they left their loves behind for the war, but they still have somewhere to go home to. |
The Mountain Goats – Estate Sale Sign Lyrics | 13 years ago |
When I saw them perform live, John said this song was about a couple that had moved in together, the song doesn't specify if they got married or not, and they decided to part ways and divide up the property. |
The Mountain Goats – Liza Forever Minnelli Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I'm fairly certain that this song is about being famous or being remembered solely from one role you played or one song you made: "There's the part you've braced yourself against, and then there's the other part." This refers to the one-hit wonder, the thing everyone wants to hear about, and how everything else is overshadowed by it. "Never get away never get away I am never ever gonna get away from this place" Applies to how you can never get away from the particular work. "Turn back turn back find someone to tell your secrets to" This is a stretch, but I feel this applies to not searching for fame, because you'll grow tired of it. "Anyone here mentions "Hotel California" dies before the first line clears his lips" This most likely applies to the song by Eagles, Hotel California. Most people will memorize the lyrics before they know the band. This can obviously stir up some conflict with the band. I think the title is about how if you say "Liza", people will forever think "Minnelli". I also feel that John may feel this way about "No Children" and "Dance Music". I bet Mountain Goats is always asked to play either of these songs at gigs. Of course, the songs are deserving of this respect, but it also discredits the rest of their work. |
Colon Open Bracket – Twin Chevron Action Flash Lyrics | 13 years ago |
It sound more like: You're talking shit, You don't see it's all over Inform you to salvage one, Before you make it up, you see You lying to impress him, that's why you fall Like, how can you talk about No point in burning? Collect call, sent to meet you Sent to skin him, falling, How? Like, how can you talk about No point in burning heart and soul away? How 'bout you breaking up? You're cutting out, How? Collect call, sent to meet you Sent to skin him, falling, How? If you don't want to see me hurt, why do you call? Like, how can you talk about No point in burning heart and soul away? How 'bout you breaking up? You're cutting out, How? 8-bit's the way We're fifty-thousand strong, all shouting out, How? ---- Too bad it's not more sensical. @Lamstar, Some people copy lyrics from other sites, so it'd make sense that'd they all say the same thing. |
Evergrey – When the Walls Go Down Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Some lyrical corrections: Lord, if you don't help me, I can't get through this. I can't. Lord, I'm too old for games... foolishness And I'm tired of rhetoric. Meaningless rhetoric. It never changes things. Lord... please help me. Help me... I was stealing God's PRAISE! and I've never had anything that's been any worth to God, in my 50 years that wasn't born in agony. Never. Never. Dead, empty. And I know that sermons won't do it. I know that a new revelation won't do it. Covenant won't do it. I know now... Oh my God do I know it. Until I lie in agony. Until I have been anguished over it. I'm preaching sermons... Oh God... I broke down and I wept and I mourned. Does that matter to you at all? I can't handle this. I can barely make it as it is. Little by little you're losing the love of God... the love of Christ... People I know of that were my friends and I see them go one by one. Some of my closest friends. You're changing. You know what you were. You're changing. Little by little, something's happening to you. Would it bring you to your knees? That's all the Devil wants to do Get the fight out of you and kill it. So you won't labor in prayer anymore. You won't weep before God anymore. GO TO HELL! No weeping? Not a word of prayer? It's all ruined. No laughing. This isn't life and death. When the walls go down, and ruin sets in... Where are the tears? Where's the mourning? Where's the confessing? Love of Christ.. the agony of God's heart... We have sinned. |
HRVRD – Inevitable and I Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Seems to me that it's about death. Harvard's lyric are very hard to get meaning out of, but there are some things that you can put together. |
Dance Gavin Dance – Strawberry André Lyrics | 13 years ago |
What it seems like it's about, is a guy is having an affair with a woman, and she convinces him to kill his wife so they can run away together. There's only a few lyrics to base this off of, so correct me if I seem wrong. Also, not every song a band makes is about the vocalist. |
Circa Survive – Lazarus Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I think you're half right, it's about how people bring up the past, but I think it's more that he wants to be known from Circa Survive or his solo-project then from them or what he did with them. I don't think he'd like the fame he gets from Circa Survive, because he didn't form them, he found them and joined them, and to me that seems like he'd want to be there. the one line: "I won't be offended if no one sings, I just wanna know what that'll mean" Possibly refers to the fact that he's a musician because he loves music, not fame, but if no one likes his music, what would that mean? it's prety much the same for: "I won't be offended if no one stays, I'll just blame it all on my old age" Means that he doesn't care if he loses his fame, he'll still love music. Usually with CS lyrics, there's a hidden meaning in there, but with this one, it seems pretty solid that there's only one meaning. |
Circa Survive – House Of Leaves Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I know it's been three years since you've said that, but the song is officially called House of Leaves. Whether it's about the book or not is different. |
Sonata Arctica – Broken Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Its a very straight-foward song... I think its about an immortal who wants to be human: "Hope I died for the last time" Then he meats a girl and he loves her a lot, more than his previous loves, who have all died. I also get the feeling that she's dying, because he's explaining everything. |
Sonata Arctica – Silver Tongue Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Its about someone who lies and is nonchalant, and someone who is serious and tells noting but the truth. For example, the line: "I never saw anything so white, call me Ishmael, if it aint a lie" White, meaning a white lie. And I beleive the line is actually "Call me Ishmael, if he didn't lie". Also, Someone with a silver tongue is someone that is a good lier. |
Sonata Arctica – My Dream's But A Drop Of Fuel For A Nightmare Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Well, Crimson is right... They interviewed Tony, and he said its about bad omens. |
Sonata Arctica – They Follow Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think I read in an interveiw that they write to make them happy, and they write about actual things, not fantasies. They also said they write about death of a freind or loved one. SO I think this is about a guy and his lover was murdered, and this makes him popular in this area, because they all talk about it. at the end of the song would be were he meats the killer, depitedd from the lines: "Built the walls out of silence I will not be taken there anymore. What is wrong with your eyes? Sad for the right reasons? I'll show you the ashes of life No empathy behind your eyes Sleeping like an angel every night" First stanza is him running away (I will not be taken there anymore) Then he meets the murder, and asks him the questions. Then he finds out he's not sad or anything because it says "No empathy behind your eyes Sleeping like an angel every night" Also, In the same interveiw I read, it says he lets people come up with the meanings, because they explain the better than him. so basically, they're both right. |
Sonata Arctica – The Rest of the Sun Belongs to Me Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I also forgot, the "The darkest hour is still here" means they're thinking of suicide. And they won't as depicted from the line: "I know there's still a day for me." |
Sonata Arctica – The Rest of the Sun Belongs to Me Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I beleive it IS about depression, and DOES contain metaphors. The Metaphors being that the sun being happiness, and (s)he wants a peice of the sun, so they can be slightly happy. They don't care about the sea because they just want one little bt. anyone who had/has depression can relate with that. And no, I haven't had depression, but I know a lot of people who have, and ask me for things to help, so I know that they'd only want a bit of enjoyment to be happy. |
Sonata Arctica – The Cage Lyrics | 15 years ago |
It's The norse myth of Fenrir. But, It can be interperted as a song about wolves, as the lines: "can't see the eyes, the glow behind you it's my song they now sing to you" Wolves' eyes glow at night. and The "it's my song they now sing to you" part, saying that they are holwing. But Sonata is Scandinavian, I think norse, which woud make more sense if it were fenrir. |
