To me, this song is very powerful. I personally think of my girlfriend when I hear this song because, to me, here is what it means. The lead singer is trying to tell this girl how much he loves her, but he just can't. He doesn't have the words. So he tries to tell her in song. And the words make little sense. This guy is trying to tell this girl he loves her more than anything. Look at the stars- they shine for you in making you so wonderful. And everything you do is yellow. I, just tonight, was talking to my girlfriend and she gave me these questions to answer about what she would be if she was a song, word, flower, and color, etc. I answered them for her, then she answered for me. She said that I was yellow, a particular shade, the shade I actually think about when I hear this song, and that was because yellow is such a comforting, beautiful, wonderful color, and reminds her of all the things she loves. As to someone who said this song is about drugs, I disagree, however, I think that Speed of Sound is about being on drugs. I think that this guy is trying to tell her he loves her so so much, and this is his best attempt. I can relate to this song because I had so much trouble telling her that I was obsessed with her and I actually wrote her a poem to tell her. So that is what this song means to me. |
