By far the best song on the album. I love the energy, reminds me of Somewhere Only We Know. But I feel like the tone of this entire album is much more somber. It seems like a memorial dedication to a previous relationship. This song brings out the anger in trying to keep making something work, but realizing that it's been long over. |

Very beautiful song, only recently discovered it. I gather that it's about a single mother but I also feel like it could be about someone just having a difficult time with life and relationships. Which makes it easy to relate to. It's just a really sad song. |

I love this song. I think it's the best one on the entire album, which is a difficult achievement because the entire album is phenomenal. I feel like this doesn't even have to be about a relationship either though, it could be between two people who are close friends. It's a lot about betrayal, trust and loss. It reminds me of "We Might as Well be Strangers" from Hopes and Fears. Same sort of deal. Basically it's just a phenomenal song. |

This song is absolutely beautiful. I agree with many of the comments above, thought I'm not crazy about the idea that it was inspired by Twilight. I wish I could relate to the emotional connection portrayed in the lyrics, I guess I can only wait. I do feel something powerful every time I listen though. Which rarely happens to me anymore. Ah, just so good and simple. |

I agree with blackmantis. I really want to know people's analysis though. It's one of my favorite songs on angles by far, it's really different from anything I've heard from The Strokes before. In my opinion it depicts that time when two people are dating and both of them are unsure what the other person feels and they're dodging confronting the fact because they're afraid of the possible rejection. It's one of the most annoying experiences ever. |

I guess I agree with those who say this is a love song, from the perspective of someone who's had a lot of trouble dealing with relationships. She's never been in a healthy relationship, and therefore she's always feared she'd never find the right person. Now she can't believe she's finally found someone who really loves her and is good for her. She'd do anything to cast aside her trust issues and inhibitions to be with him but can't help but still worry she'll be hurt again. Very emotional and beautiful song. |

This song is beautiful. It might be my favorite on this album. It does sound a little bit like Coldplay but in my opinion it just shows their versitality. The fact that this is an unconventional love song makes it even more admirable, she thought she'd never find love because she'd never had any proof of its existance. This entire album is very fresh, not like the stereotypical love songs most artists come up with these days. |

Great song. I agree, it's obviously about a break up. But its almost like she realizes that he isn't worth it and that it will just take her some time to get over him. She realizes that he didn't treat her right and she's moving on and going to be stronger when she gets through it. |

This song is the best to listen to when you feel like you are never gonna find the right person. Its that perfect girly feel good song that everyone needs. Its pretty obvious what it means, she's talking about how she can't wait till she finds that perfect guy and she wonders if he's thinking the same thing and can't wait until he meets her. Its a cute song. I love it. |

Oh man this song, in my opinion, perfectly describes a situation I'm currently in. She knows the guy isn't seriously into her, just wants her for shallow stuff but she can't help but hope that maybe he will change his mind and see that she is worth more than that. And she tries to make it just a physical things for her too and pretend it doesn't mean anything but in reality it's eating away at her and she knows she's falling deeper and deeper into this bad relationship but she can't help but still want him regardless of how he treats her.

She knows she has to stop falling for him but she can't help it. She realizes he isn't going to feel the same way as her but she still wants to try. Its a horribly painful situation, and I am so ashamed to be going through it. |

I feel like this song is about her relationship with a guy where she is giving so much and feeling so much, thinking he's perfect but in reality he isn't giving her much back. She's imagining him being a perfect guy and she's falling so hard for him but he isn't what she's making him out to be. He's leading her on, but he doesn't feel as strongly for her as she does for him.
that's what I think, I love this song so much it describes situations I've been in in the past. |

This song means a lot to me, regardless of its meaning. It's extremely emotion-packed and heartfelt and I just found it easy to connect to. I feel like it could be applied to lots of different scenarios, which makes it easier to relate to. I'd have to say it is my favorite Fray song. My broad interpretation is that its a song directed towards someone going through a difficult time, from the standpoint of a close friend who wants to help but doesn't know how to. |
