I know this song is literally about a relationship with a person but for me it’s about addiction. Whether the addiction is alcohol, drugs or sex, as an addict that’s where you go for “love”. You are the fortress—this strong, impenetrable thing—but once the addiction sets in, it burns you down. You finally hit rock bottom, the spell is broken, and you have to say goodbye. It’s hard, but once you do, you get your power back. |

I agree with specimen38. It starts out as a one night stand but turns into something else. In the last line there is an unspoken part "Can't find the reasons why I love you" (but I do). I think it's one of the most honest and genuine love songs out there. Most often it's immediate physical attraction/lust that draws us to someone and when it becomes more than that, who knows what the reasons are. |
