Dropkick Murphys – The Rocky Road to Dublin Lyrics 14 years ago
In my opinion, the Makem and Clancy verson is by far the best. They hit it just right. I like the Dropkick Murphys, but not their verson of this song. The Chieftains verson isn't bad either. The Dubliner's verson is just okay, for me.

Pink Floyd – On the Run Lyrics 15 years ago
I think this song is about how people are too fixcated on getting to their final destination in life that they fail to realize what is happening around them. People never take the time to just live life, which is often due to humanity's inability to ever be satisfied. People fear standing still and doing what they want, hence why they are "on the run". Society has warped the meaning of life to be about how far you can get. But really, it's about "where" you want to get. Does the man really need to catch that plane? Is it really that important in the long run? There are always other flights, but he only has one life to live (theoretically anyway).

Pink Floyd – Us and Them Lyrics 15 years ago
I think that Us and Them uses war as a metaphor for humanity's inability to understand that everyone is equal in God's eyes. There is no right side in war, just as there is no right ethnicity or state of mind. Humanity is constantly at war with itself over equality. There's always someone richer/poorer, more powerful/weaker, smarter/ dumber and so on. So it is about "war," just not literal war. It's a mental war (which often leads to actual war) that humanity has fought and will always fight because humans by nature, just as animals, have primordial instincts to survive and compete through natural selection (Basically Darwinism). But ultimately, it doesn't matter. No matter who you are or how far you go, you really are never any better than anyone else. This can seem discouraging, but it's a fact. Really, who are you to say that you are any better than a drug addicted homeless man? This idea also follows the whole concept of the album because the whole mindset that "no one is better" is a hard concept to grasp and could lead to insanity. Plus this idea is a lesson that many people can never fathom, hence causing the cycle to continue.
