Five Iron Frenzy – Against a Sea of Troubles Lyrics 10 years ago
This song is clearly a prayer. It reminds me of a lot of psalms, in their utter honesty with God.

I see this as a reflection on what I'd describe as a sort of faith crisis. With it would come a sense of hopelessness, as could be characterized by the first stanza.

The second describes it in more detail, with some symbolism of spiritual attack (slings and arrows) and wanting to run away from it (take flight with the sparrows), followed by a candid confession of the hopeless feeling, and pleading with God for mercy.

The bridge seems to be a profession of undying faith, that despite facing immense hardships ("One lost night against a sea of troubles") and not seeing immediate signs of God's presence through these trials ("I could not hear You through the thunder's peal"), the psalmist's faith remains unshaken ("My only hope is that You cannot not be real")

Such a powerful song for anyone who has gone through seasons of difficulty or doubt in their faith.

Five Iron Frenzy – I've Seen the Sun Lyrics 10 years ago
This song seems to be about perseverance in faith, despite feeling like you're unequipped (the first verse) or facing some kind of "attack" (the second verse). By the bridge everything seems hopeless, when God speaks, saying that nothing is unexpected, and that everything will be alright in the end. The chorus seems to be using the setting and rising of the sun as an allegory to its homophone, "son", referencing the death, resurrection, and eventual return of Christ.

Five Iron Frenzy – Zen and the Art of Xenophobia Lyrics 10 years ago
More than being a Christian song, this is a satire of the egocentrism for which the U.S. is more or less renowned. Five Iron does a few like this, which are critical of U.S. ideals, mentality, and lifestyle.

Kamelot – Veritas Lyrics 11 years ago
"In morte ultima veritas" means "in death, the final truth."

I think "vincit veritas in omni re" means "truth prevails in everything."

Kamelot – My Confession Lyrics 11 years ago
This seems to be the point of the story at which the POV character (unnamed, as I recall) is imprisoned for ten years, and on the walls of his cell he carves a confession of his sins.

You're crazy (only 'cause you told me to). Silverthorn's a concept album, so unless Thomas and Tommy K. have some pent up severe dislike for him, the song is completely unrelated to Khan.

Fixed, finally. Glad SM added that option. Now if only we could get rid of duplicates...

Kamelot – The Great Pandemonium Lyrics 13 years ago
The booklet says "down." Then again, it also says "babalon," which is spelled wrong. The point is, the booklet's lyrics are not infallible (as can also be seen in Siége Perilous, when they mixed up three song titles) It could well be "dawn," although I hear "down" as well.

This was a jam they did during their '08-'09 tour. It was pretty badass.

Kamelot – Dear Editor Lyrics 13 years ago
Just the intro to The Zodiac, about the Zodiac killer from the 1960's. I think this monologue was the final letter he sent to the police.

Epica – Trois Vierges Lyrics 13 years ago
It's actually a 2005 Dutch movie, called Joyride. Sadly, from the previews at IMDB, despite an awesome soundtrack (Epica's "The Score"), it looks like a pretty cheesy and pathetic movie.

I'm with BloodRider on this one. It seems to be mainly about the exhilaration they get while performing.

Kamelot – Epilogue Lyrics 15 years ago
My first interpretation of this song was that it was simply the epilogue of the Epica/Black Halo concept.

Looking more closely at the lyrics, though, it seems like it's more of an epilogue of someone's life. Final thoughts as they feel death approaching in their final days. The mood of the song suggests a sort of peaceful view of it.

Edguy – Life and Times of a Bonus Track Lyrics 15 years ago
The meaning in this is obvious. It's inevitably what happens to at least the majority of bonus tracks: they get pirated on the Internet.

I love how Tobi has his ways of poking fun at the music industry.

What he says is "We go all the way".

I think the song is about a perceived futility in life.

Edguy – Thorn Without A Rose Lyrics 15 years ago
I think this song is about the romance dying in a relationship; it's being compared to a withering rose, and nothing remaining but the thorns.

This song seems to be about insanity. The quotes at the beginning and end suggest schizophrenia.

Tommi Sartenen said in an interview that this song is about a ballroom dance that turns into a giant orgy. Kinda twisted, but a cool song.

This song is a satire of the Finnish military service. It's pretty much calling it a joke.

Trois Vierges is French; it means Three Virgins. Still not sure what the song's about though.
