I think this is a song about governmental conspiracy. It's pretty scary. Like how we're blinded by lies that "they" are telling us "they already know how to find you" well.. "am I waiting to be seized and turned in to a brand a chip beneath my skin, ready to be scanned. am I merely a supply? meeting some demand is this our lullaby in someones master plan?" seriously, that is some scary stuff right there. I'm creeped out. |

I think this song is about all the girls this guy sleeps with each day of the week but the girl he sees on Friday is actually worth his time. "sunday always comes too late" <-the girl on sunday takes a long time to have an orgasm. Monday is the depressed chick (blue)she falls apart in tears and holds her head in misery. Tuesday and Wednesday are both very boring girls (grey) but they're good at what they do because they give the guy a heart attack and he encourages them to stay in bed Thursday is the little bitch who won't do anything with him: Thursday I don't care about you... Thursday doesn't even start (she won't have sex with him) and "thursday watch the walls instead" because she won't sleep with him! Saturday won't wait up for him. Friday...he's legitimately in love with her. after searching through all these other types, he found that Friday is perfect. the big paragraph at the end... "sleek as a shriek" sleek in bed, and shrieking=org noise "eating here in the middle of the night" define eating, but it's in the middle of the night. "spinning round and round" well... "always take a big bite" yeah... "can;t get enough of this stuff"... you get the idea. or maybe my mind's in the gutter. |

I have a veeeeery different take on this song than all of you guys... Oddly enough, I can see this song very easily being about a bunch of elementary school students making fun of a girl named Jackie for being very developed for her age. I'm totally wrong, but I think it's sort of cool to think about it in this setting... "bare hotel room" - she's poor "So hard to believe, that you're dreaming of me too But it's true" - she's actually having nightmares about being bullied. "You only go around, round, round..." -she's being chased in circles, in her dream "At Amsterdam, I never knew you so well" - the name of the school is Amsterdam Elementary "The stadium rings with laughter, at every turn" - the stadium is the school cafeteria and people laugh as Jackie is chased around the room "You only go around, round, round" -they continue to chase her in circles around tables "Jackie big tits, is hiding in the corner" -Jackie is chased into a corner where she cowers as the other students point and laugh "Respect is the word she shouts, as I implore her" - he approaches and she desperately cries, "RESPECT!" "Speaks her mind not me, cause I was only speaking freely"- a teacher approaches to break up the teasing and this is the explanation he offers "Interupt me once more, I'll take you to the cleaners" - the teacher walks away, and he turns back to Jackie and violently threatens her "You can't push me around, round, round..." -a bunch of students gather and begin to push Jackie around in a circle "You only go around, round, round"- she gets away and continues to run in circles "Jackie big tits!" - she's cornered once more, and the ringleader of the harassment steps up and divisively points and yells. |

I actually think this song is kinda sexual... here's where I see it: "And I will do my best Just to get under her dress" <-- well, obviously... "The city heated up it" <--things got, er, hot. "It got blurry cause I'd had enough" <-- he was drunk and didn't realize that another guy was going for the other girl "And he tried to take your soul But didn't realise you keep it in a different hole" <--this could mean that the guy tried to get to her soul by talking (hole being mouth or ears) but really the girl only likes sex (everybody clear on which hole it would be in this case?). or it's the other way around... he tried to get to her by sex but she's not like that. "So here he comes, a man with A loaded gun" <--I think it means that this guy wants to get with the girl (think of what a 'loaded gun' might be...) " I don't know if he Wants my girl's heart or her pearls" <--does he want her heart or her... body. Okay, guys I am not one to be sexual but this stuff all kinda made sense... |

| I think it's because there's some kind of gap that has been left in the singer's life. What I find really neat about this song is that it's the only song on this album that doesn't say the title of the song anywhere in the actual song. It just makes it all the more mysterious. The other thing is that there actually is a gap in the song. If you've listened to this song as many times as I have, you'll notice the gap in the song. I don't know if that was done with the intention to portray a gap or what but it is very effective. At that part, I get some very interesting imagery. It puts me in a sort of cave. You can hear the water dripping off the stalagmites or stalactites or whatever they are, and I can just imagine a burst of light coming into the cave. It cold be about breaking down barriers but I think it's a lot more than that. I think it could be about someone being very reclusive and then realizing he needs other people in his life. It's a sort of rescue, I guess. I don't really know. But this song really intrigues me and I've spent many a night contemplating its meaning. | |

This song really reminds me of the situation of two people I know. The song is about a guy and a girl. The guy in the song really likes the girl but she doesn't feel the same way about him. The girl is totally into drinking and partying and participating in random hookups. The guy can't stand to watch this all happen. When she gets hurt, she goes crawling back to him. He's always there for her but it pains him to see what becomes of her. He wants more than anything to be with her and treat her right but she keeps messing up. He comforts her, thinking it will be different this time but she leaves him again. She becomes a burden on his heart. I can't even begin to explain how well I sympathize with this situation. |

I always thought it was kinda like, look, Mr. Maker has this great life, everything is perfect... or so it seems. Even though everything seems perfect, he has struggles just like everyone else, to the point where he is contemplating taking his own life, that it's not important. but the narrator of the song cares for Mr. Maker, he asks him to "stay on your feet for me." "heart beat, stay heavy"--don't give up! The narrator is trying to tell Mr. Maker to hang in there, he can make it because of all the love that he has. idk... that's what struck me when i heard this. |
