I could be wrong, but I don't think he's particularly talking about cops. I think he's talking about pigs in general, as in people who are driven by greed and gluttony, and thus are corruptible. I think the first verse is talking about how there are a number of different people from different walks of life in our society, but the pigs always fight their way to the top, simply because their greed makes it easier for them to step on the rest of us. The second verse is describing what eventually happens, that being the rest of the people getting fed up and turning on these particular assholes. The third verse describes the aftermath, thus the large number of "feasting on the pigs" metaphors. Genius as always. I've never heard someone who can so powerfully evoke an image in your head with a few words. |

| as far as the song goes, I love this one, it almost immediately caught my ear and the lyrics are hilarious. It's not tough to interpret; it's basically about using a user. The chick's clearly your standard drunken bar-skank, and he's playing on that, all the while letting her believe she's the one playing him. The second chorus is definitely just highlighting how pathetic and crazy this kind of girl is. The bridge is clever too; basically tell her to shut the hell up and do what she does best, which is put out and leave. | |

okay, just some food for thought for all of the people knocking these guys saying 3oh!3 is killing music... I can't speak fot everyone, but my tastes in music are pretty diverse. I'll queue up mars volta for experimental prog, bloc party or foals for math rock, dead prez and citizen cope for my hip-hop, etc. I'd go as far as to say I have a love of music that far exceeds most people I know. So, respectfully, all of the guys who are saying that this song in meaningless, saccharine soaked shit, I think you need to re-evaluate what the definition is of good music. You like the shins? the decemberists? that's good. this isn't either of those bands, they really don't have ANYthing in common with the bands you would compare them to. the entire point of their music is to have a positive energy and a good beat, and on that they deliver. try playing out any, and I mean any, decemberists song to a crowded club floor at Diesel in Pittsburgh. See how that goes for you... So anyway, to wrap up this little rant, I listen to LCD Soundsystem when I wanna space out, I listen to NIN when I wanna fuck some shit up, and I listen to this when I just wanna be ignorantly blissful. It's clever, it's upbeat, it's simple, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. You love music, eh? Wanna do music a favor? Pull your head out of your ass and quit using music to push your own egotistical elitism. Jesus! You people... |
