Disturbed – Haunted Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I think that paragraph of monologue "You might be welcome... the conversion has already begun" is about the media; I mean it sounds as if it is being broadcast and the person is there in the room, hearing the guy in the studio and then half a second later on the screen, and then on the last line (The conversion has already begun) it is a single voice, so perhaps he himself has been converted into the crowd, almost telling her that she did this to him and that she won't escape the "conversion" |
Die Toten Hosen – Hier Kommt Alex Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Roboten is the Russian for working... Horrorshow is Russian for "good"; although the use of it is very ironic considering everything and Droog can be translated as friend (or Other but that would be droogie) sorry for spamming the lyrics, just wanted to see if I could manage to get it down poetically In a world in which you just live by so that you can go to work The most excitement that you'll get right now is the nightly TV screen Each human is like a clockwork a computer pre-programmed No one stands against this force Just several youths that are frustrated When the sun sets on the horizon the day begins for these friends In small groups do they cluster And head out for the hunt Hey,here comes Alex Open the curtains for his goodness (horrorshow) Hey here comes Alex Open the curtains for a little bit of goodness In the flooding of the order (neatness) in this seemingly whole world, Do they celebrate the destruction The violence and abuse Only when they've seen their victims suffer Do they have any feelings of satisfaction There is nothing that can stop them now, In their merciless anger Hey, here comes Alex Open the curtains for his goodness Hey, here comes Alex Open the curtains for a little bit of goodness Twenty versus one Until the blood shows on the surface Whether with sticks or with stones eventually every head will roll The next victim's already lined up and if you get a word in quick with God "Why didn't you do anything?" Hey, here comes Alex, open the curtains for his goodness Hey, here comes Alex, open the curtains for a little bit of goodness |
The Offspring – Me & My Old Lady Lyrics | 14 years ago |
well, if the term "old lady" also includes a girlfriend, then I'd say that it's about them being at the beginning of a relationship. He says he loves her after they've had sex, she doesn't want to hear it "when I say I love her - well she rolls the other way" she wants to avoid those feelings for him and just wants the casual side of things. When she's drunk the tables are turned and she's the one saying she loves him, and he's denying it, and in the end it stops being casual and they "fall in love". Or maybe that's just the romantic in me... anyway a great song |
Rise Against – Savior Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I don't think he's looking back, but rather she is older than he is (possibly) hence she is pushing him away, before he "wastes" 10-20 years with her, until she passes away and then has no-one for the rest of his life. But no matter how hard they try they keep getting drawn back to each other "if this ain't love then how do we get out?" |
Rise Against – Historia Calamitatum Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I think rutlin is quite close, although I think the song says that when things go wrong, they go wrong completely and not just part way. I think its somewhat about third world countries. The monsoon periods mean that what it rains, it pours,; the monsoon period occurs around Summer anyway. however, when the floods don't come their lives become more difficult than they already are. "but the people laughed and swore that they'd restore the city piece by piece and then the clouds gave way" So it is telling us to stop worrying, the people in the LEDCs have it much worse than we do (LEDC = less economically developed country, 3rd world isn't very PC supposedly) |
Rise Against – Drones Lyrics | 15 years ago |
May I bring one thing to light? It is a follow-on from Prayer of the refugee so it continues that story e.g. the chgaracter has arrived, but life isn't the freedom that he expected doesn't exist. They don't know what to do, and so they follow their "programming" and follow the "faceless queen" they've forgotten what its like to really live, "if walls could speak, I pray that they would tell me what to do". In the later part, after he has "left" the colony he just wants to forget his time there. the failed attemp at living a simple life is just that. hive creatures rely on groups and alone are much weaker so the character has no choice but to return to work for the controlling power. |
Disturbed – I'm Alive Lyrics | 15 years ago |
my favourite part would definitely be "I'm no slave.. use your discretion before you label me blind, yes its about control, but its more the patronising kind who don't give you a choice, they rather tell you what to do in s-l-o-w English, hence you can't predict where the outcome lies, because they don't know him and they have underestimated him. |
Disturbed – Droppin' Plates Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I would say it is just about showing people what can be done "just because it couldn't be done doesn't mean its the battle that couldn't be won" and I think its just about causing a riot, with this music "use my music as a weapon" |

Blind Guardian – Otherland Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I know that one line "Don't even ask until we're out of it, everythings at highest stake" is what Renie says... I finally chased down a copy of City of Golden shadows, and I'm loving it... I'm guessing the Egyptian gods are the ones that "rule the land" |
Demons & Wizards – Wicked Witch Lyrics | 15 years ago |
It links to Rhea, but I think it is all about Elphaba from the Wizard of Oz/ Wicked "Silver shoes you are mine" "still I hear her singing in the dark" etc. |
Demons & Wizards – Crimson King Lyrics | 15 years ago |
edencyclone, if you like the dark tower, have a try of the Otherland series by Tad williams, and I agree, this song is amazing but in the end doesn't the CK die? but yes, an amazing song |
Blue Öyster Cult – The Marshall Plan Lyrics | 15 years ago |
the smoke on the water riff is nice, and I think its meant to represent what you can do with determination. considering how big Don Kirshner is. |
Rise Against – Rumors Of My Demise Have Been Greatly Exaggerated Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I'd also agree with rave but I'd also say that there is something more, its like a lack of wanting to live (don't puull this plug right now cos' then we'd really have to live) the guy is also lost (your words can't save me now, I'm at the edge feeling the sweat drip from my brow) |
Panic! at the Disco – Lying Is the Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off Lyrics | 15 years ago |
from what I can gather its a guy whispering something into this girl's ear, saying how he was so good for her, but its over (is it still that makes you sweat) its probably refering to sex, with the shaking, and the body heat reference. in the second verse they have reached the pregnancy stage (and the stomach acid finds a new way of making you sick I hope you didn't expect to get all of the attention) though I'll agree that testosterone refers to the raging sex drive the guy has and harlequin probably to the cliche romances. |
