The Temper Trap – Need Your Love Lyrics | 12 years ago |
She is [a maze of neon] highways and desert plains Of lonely creatures singing for the summer rain And at the end of [her your knees fall down to kneel] Yeah it's something in you always [yearns] for someone real She is my salvation in the [dawn] But at night with lips of honey [calls the devil's horn] |
Bon Iver – Wash. Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Are these the official lyrics? I hear at least a few things differently and am unsure whether it's his pronunciation. What I hear: Claire is all we know when [thought/thaw] is not below us no, can't grow up in that iron ground Claire, all too sore for sound bed is hardly shown scraped across the foam like they stole it and, oh, how they hold it Claire, we nearly forfeit I'm grown like the quickening hues I'm telling darkness from lines on you over havens for a full and swollen morass, your habitat! I'll be living alone, where the ice snap and the hold clast are known home we're savage high come we finally cry oh and we done it because it's right Claire, eyes too sore for sight We're sown up through latchet greens Un-peel keenness, honey, bean for bean same white pillar tone as with the bone street sand is thrown where she stashed a sack I'll be living alone, where the [crack sat/crack's at] in the low part of the stone |
Boy & Bear – Rabbit Song Lyrics | 13 years ago |
It seems to me to be about standing up to protect the vulnerable and persecuted. |
Lightning Dust – I Knew Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I hear "your spirit shot bullets, you were something new" |
Garbage – Queer Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Everyone else is wrong. This song is clearly about Lex Luthor getting down to business with Clark Kent. |
Sunset Rubdown – Idiot Heart Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I never "got" Sunset Rubdown at all until I heard this song. AWESOME. So much of it is made up of escape imagery and the necessity of movement; "if I was a horse, I'd throw up the reins", "you gotta move," "you can't settle down," but it also acknowledges that just because something's necessary doesn't make it smart. Run for long enough, and you'll run yourself right into the ground. It seems affectionate to me, but brutally honest. |
Anna Ternheim – You Mean Nothing To Me Anymore Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Her delivery puts the weight of truth behind these simple lyrics. |
Timber Timbre – Demon Host Lyrics | 14 years ago |
The feeling I get from this one is that it's about literal damnation; a lament from a person who believes in religion, but can't straighten out, and therefore knows they're hellbound. It's either some great storytelling, or a killer metaphor, all delivered in a stunningly eerie 3:38. |
Land of Talk – Speak to Me Bones Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Are these the official lyrics? I think I hear some differences. breaks your face apart endless sea [not sure about this line] all in all it's still repeating [not sure about first part, sounds like it could be "on and on" or "oh no"] snakes out, sex stealing [not sure about this line either] what about the [jaws] |
Neko Case – The Next Time You Say Forever Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Neko has said she's not a romantic, and it sounds like this song is about a person who's seeing their romanticized, "forever" view of her instead of the person in front of them. |
The Joy Formidable – Cradle Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Lyrics are rather abstracted, but it seems like it might evoke being ashamed of something you've said or done. The energy of this song is amazing--glittering, pounding, a bit lonely. Like hurtling along the highway, watching the lights of Vegas spread out before you. |
