The Wrens – She Sends Kisses Lyrics | 15 years ago |
"ten tons" is a reference to the 'body high' weed he is probably smoking. i can definitely relate. he even sounds high when he sings--elongated enunciation, uncomfortably emotional vocal tones--so i'm pretty sure this whole lyrical song is just a super stoned writer feeling nostalgic about (seemingly) not too long ago when he was in love. it's one of those distinctly profound thought tangents ensuing a fat bong rip. |

The Hold Steady – You Can Make Him Like You Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think it's supposed to be interpreted in two different ways based on the gender of the interpreter: Laughable and sarcastic for boys; a bolster of spirits for girls. Just the fact that Finn could set it up so it works both ways baffles me. It's kind of like the fantasy baseball draft scene in Knocked Up for anyone who has seen that. These four lines can be taken at least two different ways: you don't have to go to the right kind of schools, let your boyfriend come from the right kind of school you can wear his old sweatshirt you can cover yourself like a bruise |
The Hold Steady – Massive Nights Lyrics | 15 years ago |
"we were all powered on some new upper drug," wow, so true. he's talking mostly about ADD medications that everybody and their mother can get prescribed like adderall, vivance, focalin, dexedrene, etc. |
The Flaming Lips – The Spiderbite Song Lyrics | 15 years ago |
When I heard this for the first time I was blown away. How could such unorthodox songwriting result in something so immediately beautiful? |
Justice – We Are Your Friends (Never Be Alone) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
for me it's sort of like a sequel to postal service's "such great heights," bringing comfort to the people who have wasted way too many hours of their lives listening to electronic music while staying up all night on some kind of upper (adderall in my case). my favorite part is when the clean-ass beats come in right after the first verse, kind of gives their message an exclamation point. |
